Thanks, Iceflower
Well, Josephine sure is Bella's kidsister!
And the royal dogs entertained as always...
The photo of the dachshunds couldn't be more perfect if it had been photoshopped.

Bella drove the golf-car. That's one of the great things about being with your grandparents (and uncles) you are often allowed to do things your parents say no to.

Aww so many deligthful, funny and absolutely lovely pictures from today's family photo session at Gråsten
I liked the idea of the Crown Prince Family welcoming the Regent Couple. Now Gråsten seems more as the Crown Prince family's summer residens, so now it them welcoming The Regent couple (farmor og Grandpapa)
And Frederik and Mary's foursome - Christian, Bella, Vincent and Josephine - are such smiling, happy, lively and bubly children!!
You are always guaranteed a big smile on your face by seeing them. And you at any rate never get bored. Christian and Bella has grown so tall. Christian starts resemble his father very much now. But Vincent and Josephine's really has grown - they are not little toddlers anymore. Adorable beautiful twins.
Although I have vacation these weeks and bad internet connection I had to click in here on TRF....

Impossible to choose any faves pictures, but here some of the pictures I smiled about :

Absolutely lovely pictures. The children appear happy and Josephine is a ham.

Lovely pictures. Too bad the weather prevented them from going into the gardens. (We could use some of that rain in this part of the midwest) I thought Josephine's dress looked familiar, so I went back through some old pictures. It's the same one that Isabella wore at the photo shoot in 2012, the year that Josephine was sick. You can see a picture on pg. 32 of this thread, post #631.
As for the pictures of the dogs, I think they were quite unnecessary. But photographers have no problem taking pictures of humans in awkward/embarrassing situations, so why should they be discreet about dogs?

Daily Mail: Princess Josephine of Denmark poses for annual portrait at Grasten Castle | Daily Mail Online
Yes, Josephine is a ham. It really is nice that all the photographers showed up to photograph her.
Vincent seem more - not shy, not timid, not reluctant - more reserved perhaps.
ADDED: BB has details: http://www.billedbladet.dk/kongelige...boerneboernene
After the photoshoot the children lured grandpapa outside into the courtyard to go for s spin in a couple of golf-cars. - Or perhaps it was the other way around...
Bella has apparently been practicing during the stay because she maneuvered the car around without problems. But outside the inner palace area (i.e. on roads, paths and lanes also used by the public and people working in the palace, and adult is required behind the wheel and here grandpapa took over.
In fact they were away so long that they only returned in the middle of the changing of the guard at noon.
The Music Corps of the Royal Lifeguard Regiment are on on holiday so the music came from the drummers and fifers. (They are conscripts).
It's great to see that the children are obviously very fond of their grandfather. Perhaps not least Josephine.
I think the dogs lend a little holiday-atmosphere to the whole event and also made it less solemn.
A 17 pic gallery from Jyske Vestkysten: http://www.jv.dk/modules/jv/gallery/?articleId=2345022
(That's the regional paper, so it's likely they are among the first to write and post photos when the DRF are at Gråsten - hint, hint, newsdiggers).
It's 15 degrees C (59 F) today and windy, which means you can easily walk around bare-legged but it's a good idea to wear long sleeves.
As seen in the last photo, Christian is very much QMII's boy. - Perhaps because she knows what awaits him.
I believe the lady offering flowers to QMII is the "oldfrue" of Gråsten. I.e. the matron who runs the household.
The guardsmen stationed over the summer at Gråsten are as far as possible from the local region and as such many locals show up to photograph their son or daughter standing guard.
This years map over Gråsten has been updated: https://app.box.com/s/vqmryv6ipkriq4d7qdtm26ibnmafgc3i
The inner courtyard, between the wings of Gråsten manor is where Bella would have driven around without breaking the law.

thanks to everyone for the pictures, links and information. What a nice family photo shoot, simple but happy.
A little disappointing that Joachim has yet again not shown up to the Queen's summer gathering. Surely summer vacations abroad can be planned to work with this family gathering, especially two years in a row.
But the family looked great, love that Gustav and Alexandra still join their aunt and cousin. It must be some nice memories for them too.

Muhler,
It would be most kind of you to explain why Prince Joachim and his family do not participate in the Grasten shoot on a regular basis.

I don't know.
But I can guess.
I understand J&M are currently on holiday and also understand they visit our Marie's relatives in France and that means it's likely J&M's holiday schedule has to align more with the French holiday schedule than the other way around.
So my best bid is that it simply a holiday conflict. J&M can't be in two places at the same time, so they mostly opt for France. They may also have developed their own holiday-traditions and there is also advantages of their children absorbing French culture and language, especially if their parents wish them to be bilingual.
M&F don't have the same option. They have de facto made Gråsten their summer residence, so they have to go, even when the weather is cloudy and rainy. It's very much expected of them in order to maintain the DRF affiliation with Southern Jutland.
I know there is a lot of speculation going on about M&F and J&M not being on that great terms, perhaps especially between Mary and Marie (Because women have a tendency to think the worst about other women...).
I don't subscribe to that.
I don't think the two families have that much in common. Different interests, different friends, different lives to a large extent. But that doesn't mean they can't get along. - Just that they don't wear out each others couches.
Because when they are together they don't seem to have any problems whatsoever about chatting away.
It's not that different from other families I think.
My sisters and I may very well visit each other when on holiday and spend a weekend together, but an entire week together? - Weeell, as long as we don't do it every year.
Yet, our relationship is fine and we see each other every two months or so. But the phone and Facebook has been invented, so we are still in touch.
They are IMO simply different and different people don't spend too long time together on holiday.

And is it because the really want to spend several weeks at Gråsten or is it because they are expected to, whatever they think themselves?
They are the ones who have to maintain the DRF affiliation to Southern Jylland, because Joachim&Marie left it?
If they really are happy with it, then that's just fine. If F&M would prefer to spend several weeks somewhere abroad next July and not attend the annual photo session for the second time in 12 years, it would not be a scandal?
I have always thought, that the French holiday schedule is August. I had a colleague, who had his family in France, and he always had his holiday in August, because that was when they had it over there.

 Interesting question.
It was always the intention that M&F should take over Gråsten, but it may very well be that J&M vacating Schackenborg has speeded up that process.
But that doesn't mean M&F has that big a choice anyway for going to a warmer place in their summer holiday.
Once they become the regent couple, it is also almost certain that it will be very much expected of them to take up residence at Marselisborg to maintain the DRF affiliation with Aarhus. - They take that very serious in Aarhus!
So IMO M&F might just as well get used to every summer to hop around from Fredensborg to Marselisborg to Gråsten to Trend and back to Fredensborg. With perhaps one week going south to sun and beaches - at most and not every summer.
As long as the Regent Couple is alive and active M&F can skip Marselisborg in the summer, but that won't last.

I think Frederik and Mary have really formed a nice bond/home in Grasten. And not just because of obligation, which is important too to follow the Queen's tradition of gathering in Grasten.
They enjoy the quiet horseback riding and bike rides, and now their kids do too. they can go to legoland and other children friendly attractions (like we saw last summer) in relatively quietness. They seem to really enjoy the outdoor life. Similar to when they go to Trend.

I'm also quite so sure F&M uses Gråsten in their summer holiday of desire. And not by coercion. I honestly don't believe F&M don't even bother to travel in their family summer holiday. They travel much with their work. I know from my acquaintances who are often on business trips with their work that the very last thing they bother to do in their summer vacation is.. to travel more. The best thing is to just be at home and have time to relax. That is also what most young children prefer, me thinks. The CP-family seems to enjoy it to the maximum and seems to always prefer to keep their holiday at home in Denmark.
Like me.
That it also provides memories for Frederik, and they wish to take over Queen Ingrid's tradition are very likely. And it's a nice tradition that the Regent couple can be together with the CP-family and see their grandchildren for many days in a row.
