According to this article and picture in Billed Bladet: Billed-Bladet - Mary og Frederik nyder ferien på Gråsten
M&F went to Gråsten after the service in Copenhagen.
They went riding in the early morning, as we can see. That must be today.
From article in Billed Bladet #30, 2011.
Written by Anna Johannesen.
http://www.billedbladet.dk/Kongelige...0Graasten.aspx
The Regent Couple and M&F have arrived at Gråsten.
The Regent Couple went straight from Greenland to Gråsten and M&F arrived late Wednesday.
Joachim and our Marie will not be present at the photoshoot Monday. There is no explanation as to why they cannot attend, but they will probably turn up later.
Queen Anne-Marie arrived Tuesday. She will leave early Monday and as such she will not take part in the photoshoot either.
Princess Benedikte will be there, perhaps Prince Richard as well.
Princess Alexandra will be there with her two children and Count Jefferson.
Prince Gustav and Carina Axelsson will also attend.

Christian must have liked the ride since he road it twice, once with his mother and once with his father. They did look to have a good time, especially Frederick with Christian. And like many Moms, Mary had her camera ready!

Hee! Yes, in some of the pics he looks like he's having a wonderful time and others it looks like he is terrified.

It looks like Christian is having a ball on those rides . I think he's laughing/screaming on the roller coaster-type ride. Great that Mary and Fredrick are enjoying themselves as well.

It looks like Christian did those rollercoaster rides for the first time, of course he was terrified but then who wasnt as a kid? only to beg the parents afterwards to do another ride and another ride .... its great fun.
I am rather surprised that Mary & Fred seem to enjoy it as well. While things couldnt be thrilling or adventurous enough for me as a kid, today people would have to push me to even come near such an attraction.

Do the couple only go riding when they are at Grasten?
They sure looked like they had a good time at the park. Thanks for all the pictures.

(**) Native American being the currently politically correct term, in USA at least. That term however does not exist in Danish, for the simple reason that there are different words for Native Americans (indianere) and for Indians (indere). Indianere is comparable to saying Europeans.
(***) No mum, mommy, mama, dad, daddy in Danish, remember? Only mother and father.
(****) Forgive me, but for me, being used to a completely different word, this pc-term does sound a bit silly.
It's like calling me "Native European" in the same description.
|
There is simply no way to compare the North American and Europe population pattern over the centuries, consequently no way to equate the two. Indian is no longer an acceptable term for Native Americans. The term came into being because Columbus thought the had arrived at the "indies" and not North America and therefore called the native population Indians. The term should be abolished even in Scandianavia, especially as we all consider us so very open, accepting of all people and free from discrimination.
It is not about being PC but correcting an old misconception and mistake.

What about calling people holding an American citizenship Americans??
An "indianer" in Danish is not a derogative at all, but I understand your message. Since it is not part of European history it is not stigmatised in the same way, as I understand it is in the US.
Everyone in Scandinavia knows, that in the US they are called Native Americans and i doubt anyone would call them Indians to their face.
