Catherine, at year end you posted the most beautiful summary of 2004 pictures of the BRF on the GREMB. Is there any way you can post a link to that here so that we can see those photos again? I wish I had a copy but I don't.

I really like HM's outfit. She looks very elegant.

The Queen looks absolutely stunning, the best outfit I have seen her with for years! Sometimes it is hard to imagine that she was so glamorous once, but her she is in every inch 'La Dolce Paola'!

Congratualations to Albert and Paola with their new grandchild !

Now they 4 boys Amadeo , Joachim , Gabriel and Emmanuel
and 5 girls : Maria-Laura , Luisa Maria , Elisabeth , Letitia-Maria and Louise !

Princess Elizabeth looks so much like her mother. She is so cute. Philip and Matilde have the cutest kids.

Prince Fabrizio Ruffo di Calabria, queen paola's eldest brother and head of the princely family Ruffo di Calabra has died yesterday in Rome. He was 82.

The queen and princess Astrid (godchild of prince Fabrizio) will attend the funeral, that will take place in family surroundings.

Paola's activities have been cancelled untill after the funeral.

Paola now has 1 brother and 1 sister left, she was originally the youngest of 7 sisters and brothers: Fabrizio, Maria Christina (1920, deceased), Laura (1921-1972), Antonello (1930), Augusto (1925-1943) and Giovanella (1927 - 1941). Paola was born in 1937.

Prince Fabrizio got married to Maria Vaciago in 1953, they had 5 children :Fulco (1954), Augusto (1955), Imara (1958), Umberto (1960) and Alessandro (1964). The prince fought in WWII. In 1958 he founded a company for the import of raw produces such as lad, chrome and zinc. he also was involved in an important transport company.

Only the queen and princess Astrid will go to the funeral? What a difference with the funeral of the sister of king Albert, when the whole family was present.
Clearly the belgian royal family wasn't that close with the Italian side of the family. Does anyone know more about that?

i'm a little confused by the turn-around chairs placed in front of the royal family. are those supposed to be makeshift prayer kneelers?

In the Catholic Church we used to turn our chairs at a regular times during the mass, to pray. Nowadays, it's not common to do so anymore. But Philippe and Mathilde were kneeling at their marriagemass. Ordinary people just turn their chair, royal highnesses have an extra chair in front of them. I think it's only been done on very official occasions.
