Good news, the portraits of the King and Queen will stay in the city hall of Halle. A while ago the Flemish Interest party requested that they would be removed but the city counsil didn´t agree. Apparently the removal didn´t succeed in Affligem either. The portraits were however removed a while ago in Lennik and Mortsel.

The King is looking well. I do hope he's getting his rest.

Yes she really does.
I think all three of their majesties children look like the king. Occasionally, I do think Princess Astrid looks like the Queen, but more often then not, I think the resemblence of the "children" to King Albert is quite remarkable.
I do think Prince Amedeo and Princess Laetitia Maria look a bit like their grandmother though.

The golden twealf of Albert and Paola

Amedeo, the first
Our king and queen became grandparents for the first time in 1986. Albert was then 51 and he was immediately "in love" to his grandson. He is increadably froud of him.

Maria Laura, the planner
Maria Laura (19) studies in China, the land of the future. She knows the monarchy wil evaluate and probably will become the first Belgian royals with an important role in the business comunity.

Joachim, the turbulent teenager
He will become 16 this year and his parent and grandparents will notice that. When he had a serious accident with his Quand a while ago the concern was big.

Luisa Maria, the sober one
The 4th child of princess Astrid and prince Lorenz is little impressed of her descent. That sobermindedness is something that will charm her grandparents.

Elisabeth, the future
The future of the monarchy rest on Elisabeth's shoulders. Her grandfather will take her under his wings, well knowing what taks waits for her.

Leatitia Maria, the suprise
Nowbody expected that princess Astrid would get a fifth child. She was after all already 40. The pleasure, joy with Albert and Paola was nevertheless big!

Gabriël, the playfull child
A 4-jear old boy with the hart on the right place en a good sense of curiousity. During photoshoots Gabriël is always an intrest fot the photographers and his family.

Louise, the reconciled
The 3- year ols daughter of Claire and Laurent has brought daddy Laurent and his parents without a doubt closer together.

Emmanuel, the cuddletoy
Emmanuel needs a lot of attentions and hugs. He recieves that obviously from his parents but without a doubt also from his grandparents who babysit a lot.

Nicolas en Aymeric, the cutest
The twin of Laurent and Claire are 2 little blonde gods, for who everyone melts away.

The Benjamin
The fourth baby of Filip and Mathilde will be (for the time being?) the youngest grandchild of Albert and Paola. A good reason to ger a very special place in their heart.

What great pictures. If you didn't know better you would just think a "normal" family having lunch on a Saturday afternoon...although in one of the pictures it does look like the paparazzi was hot on their trail!

thank you for the pictures of the king and queen with princess Astrid and princess Luisa Maria in Paris. It's lovely to see them doing normal family things.

I have only just "discovered" the Belgian RF in the last few weeks and I must say I am fascinated by them. I really love Queen Fabiola.

The Belgians are about to replace the Grimaldis as my favorite Royal Family to read about!

Queen Fabiola, prince Lorenz, princess Astrid, prince Joachim, princess Louisa Maria, princess Leatitia Maria and Prince Amedeo attends the Christmas midnight mess at Saint Michel & Gudule / Sint Michiels & Goedele Cathedral in Brussels, celebrated by Cardinal Godfried Danneels on Tuesday 25 December 2007.

Thank you for the pictures. I saw Prince Nicholas of Liechtenstein and his wife, Princess Margareta of Luxembourg in back of Prince Lorenz in one of the photographs. Must have been an extended family outing.

A new dotation? Does that mean there was a significant change or was it just an inflation correction as usual?

I wonder why Queen Fabiola gets more than Philippe? Her Majesty has never come across as an extravagant big spender, even during the time when she was Baudouin's consort as Queen of the Belgians.

Philippe on the other hand lives in the vast Palace of Laeken and has a pregnant wife and three children.

Any ideas?

It due to inflation that the index changes. In 2007 the total donations were for the amount of 12,5 million€ and this year it is 13,3 million€.

Queen Fabiola recieves such a high amount because of the fact that she recieves every year 28.000€ more donation since king Boudewijn died. Since king Boudewijn died in 1992 queen Fabiola has already recieved 19mlillion€. They aspect that in 2012 she will have more than 25 million€.

Wow...thanks for the info. I wonder what Her Majesty does with all the $$ other than pay for her staff and the upkeep of Stuyvenberg? She is not really a big spender, never was.

Is the upkeep of Stuyvenberg and it's grounds the responsibility of the Government?

I am not sure the upkeep of the palaces have to be payed by the roals themselves. Wouldn't the Dotation Royale take care of that? Or the dotation of the King?
Did Fabiola only get a dotation after her husband died, considering that Queen Paola doesn't have a dotation of her own?

I read in "Fabiola, La Reine Blanche" by Guy Michelland that she was voted by Parliament to receive a personal dotation only after the death of her husband. While the late King was alive, my understanding is that she did not receive one of her own.
