Great collaborative effort, you guys! The pictures continue to be lovely and I notice new things each time. Are they in the Royal Palace or the Palace at Laeken? The bright chandeliers with the gold and red are sooo beautiful.

Purple Platinum -- Thanks also for telling me what SHAPE stands for. I have another question -- who is the couple in quite a few pictures -- the man is wearing a blue tie and his wife is in the pink/raspberry/burgundy jacket?

Gold = royal palace
White = Laken.
That's how I remember it.
That man is Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, Nato secretary-general (and his wife I suppose).

That's Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, the secretary general of the NATO. Before that he was minister of foreign affairs in the Netherlands and I think the woman next to him is his wife... :)

Thanks Hannelore and Maxie. OK -- now if I can remember which color goes to which palace...
...and not a bad obsession, Maxie. An older friend of mine has collected their Christmas plates for years, has them placed around her living room like a border, and they are so beautiful to look at.

Oh, but I like them too! It's just that I'm obsessed by them due to some vaguely artistic and Holland themed project I'm involved in (and that's keeping me out of sleep at the moment...in combination with some term papers I have to write for university... ). You should go and see my profile picture, then you'll understand... I made something that could go straight into any souvenir shop in the whole of old and very touristic Amsterdam... :p
But on topic again: I just wanted to say that I really really liked Mathildes jacket. It's such a classical print and it looked lovely on her. She was all charms, as usual. :)

How nice to see Queen Paola out with one of the grandchildren! I wonder if this is Joachim's first 'official visit'? What is this exhibit about?

I think this is his first official visit yes, although he and his sister Louisa also accompanied Paola once to a ping pong match.
Here's more info on Panamarenko and his work (in English):

Thank you for the website, Catherine. He is quite exceptional, it sounds like -- a modern day DaVinci, perhaps!

He's very special, and a very funny man too. I like his work a lot. The woman with him is his wife.
