12 OCTOBER 2004

Nicole Kidman hosted what was quite possibly the most glamorous party of the year in Paris this week. The Oscar-winning actress was joined by a roll call of top royals and fashion world heavyweights at the launch of her new ad for Chanel No 5.

But is was the Monegasque royal Charlotte Casiraghi who stole the show. The 18-year-old, who was dressed in a strapless black number with an eye-catching diamond brooch, set the flashbulbs blazing when she arrived for the glitzy bash. Her mother Princess Caroline meanwhile opted for Chanel couture, while her brothers Andrea and Pierre went casual in white shirts and jeans. Belgium's royal household was likewise represented, with Princess Claire arriving on the arm of her husband Prince Laurent.

The star of the show was also dressed to impress, in a shimmering beaded Chanel gown. Nicole was photographed chatting with her Moulin Rouge collaborator Baz Luhrman, who directed the new clip, and style guru Karl Lagerfeld. And there was a generous sprinkling of top models too, with big names like Eva Herzigova and Amber Valletta mingling among the crowd.

Bosses at the fashion house made sure the setting was just as impressive as the guest list. The Hotel Pozzo di Borgo, on Paris' romantic Left Bank, was decked out with white muslin and hundreds of scented candles. After a lavish banquet of roasted lobster and seabass, the revellers boogied the night away until the small hours.

I wonder how offended and insulted some of these royal ladies would be if they kept reading all these postings of "I think she looks pregnant" when in fact they are not. They are merely wearing an outfit that gives them the appearance of extra weight that might not physically be there or it is simply a bad angle of them caught by the photogrpaher.

It seems to me that some people spend all their time looking at photos and trying to spot signals of princesses being pregant because certain images show the princesses looking a bit thicker around the middle, hence they must be pregnant.

I don't think they feel insulted. They know very well people like to guess about such things. It's not a bad thing to feel interessted and involved in what our royals go through.
On this board there aren't much bad gossips told, merely it is true or just some kindely guessing. If you look at it in that way, our royals can feel flattered by this kind of attention.

Personally I would never ask a woman if she was pregnant unless I was 100 % sure. Just imagine if you ask "are you pregnan" and she says "no" what is a good follow up sentence after that. "erm, you just looked pregnant?"

I sometimes think Mathilde, Mette-Marit, Maxima and Claire looks pregnant from certain angles, but one must remeber that the first two has had two children and the other two one, so ofcourse their figures will not be as before they had children. Sometime a unfortunat cut of a jacket or the angel they stand in makes look that way

The most recent examples was from the danish wedding when I thought Mathilde looked pregnant in that silver gown the day before the wedding, but the next day in that beautiful soft flower gown she did not look it at all.

Laurent and Claire at a classic concert at the royal palace last week. Like the other Belgian royal ladies, Claire looked a 100% elegant and beautiful!!!

Claire & Laurent at the shop of Natan in Brussels. Eduard Vermeulen often dresses the Belgian royal family, he's also a personal friend. He was present at the baptism of princess Louise.

I love that about him, his attention to the little creatures of the world. He is one of the few as far as I know, of the royals in the world who give their attention to animal sactuaries.

in monaco there is an aunt of caroline(?) who protects stray dogs and cats too. she started a project with feedingpoints I think. (ludicrous that in a small rich country as monaco they cannot manage it humanely, must be because most of the wealthy people there are tax evaders and obsessed with all things material)
