I love that Gabriella wore a red dress. The presence of the children made it a warm occasion. The Chinese First Lady was visibly relaxed with the twins.

Charlene would have remove the sun glasses if Albert would have said that it was direspectul, he does not think that it is direspectful, he knows better than you
You focus on the sun glasses , it is Nothing near the fact that he was an important visite and Charlene was very warm and kindly and for the presidentiel couple, it was the most importance than to wear sun glasses in their presence
As I said it, Charlene did a good work to day during all the day
It is nice that Jacques and Gabriella were also present during the concert and they visited the Palatine chapelle and they were very polite and respectful

Excuse me! I have worked in the the diplomatic field. I have escorted Presidents, Prime Ministers, Governor Generals and Ambassadors. I know the protocol, so please don't insinuate that I don't know what I'm talking about. While she was warm and personable, it doesn't take away that it is a major sign of disrespect to wear sunglasses when meeting dignitaries for the first time, especially being a premiere femme.
I don't care if Albert did it in the past, then he also committed a faux pas. It's quite simple. For what's it's worth, I don't dislike Charlene, just pointing out something that goes against diplomatic norms.

Thanks melina p, for this video.
The twins are vey natural and spontaneous, and so well behaved. Could anyone hear what PJacques was saying that made his mom laugh? The couple looked happy and relaxed entertaining their guests.
It looks like it was a very successful visit. The Chinese president speaks no English?

He speaks English, but it's not the "at the native level". It is easier sometimes for dignitaries to have a translator that way nothing gets lost in translation.

I love that Gabriella wore a red dress as well...but I didn't like or understand the dark stockings at all.
However, that was a minor complaint. Watching the little princess and her brother plant kisses on the cheek of the Chinese First Lady and even demand "one more!" made my heart melt.
Those twins are absolutely the best ambassadors for the Principality of Monaco!

Charlene today has done tne minimum required as a First lady. Minimum.i It doesn't happen very often. . Charlene isn't a heroin. . For me , sunglasses or not, she is always inexpressive.
Charlene today was warm and kind? What effort! If we think about the other First Ladies and their work, no comment.

While I agree that Charlene doesn't appear to do much as First Lady (and I don't understand why but it seems Albert is ok with that) I have to say that today she was almost back to the young woman who started going out with Albert. She was much more relaxed, spontaneous and smiling than we have seen for a while. It was a lovely appearance by the family.

Yesterday Charlene was relaxed. After 11 years of marriage and before 5 years of engagement , we are happy if she is finally at ease . A Life with many privileges and few duties.

I have felt that Charlene was more than a little intimidated by her sisters-in-law and their families.
They are very wealthy, worldly and have always been a larger than life part of who and what Monaco is.
For all the time they spent together, Albert didn't seem to make much of an effort to present Charlene as the woman he loved to his family letalone his country. For all intents and purposes, Caroline has been First Lady of Monaco since even before their father died. I don't see her handing over the reins to Charlene and I don't see either Albert or Charlene making an issue about it. Like William and Harry are Diana's children, Albert, Caroline and Stephanie are Grace Kelly's. And nobody can gazzump that, not even their spouses.

Wow the twins have met an impressive number of important people already in their young lives. Did the video show the President giving them bycicles? It looked like that.

Yes, the little Marquis des Baux and Countesse de Carla des have met quite a score of dignitaries and world leaders in their 4 years. And they appear to have charmed the socks off them all.
If the Chinese president has given them bicycles, I bet they are thrilled with them. I hope we get to see them ride soon!

Dear Flaubert,
I agree with you, she did the minimum as First Lady, and it's not a great effort if we consider the few events she attended since Saint Devote. She is a a princess but she doesn't want to be the First Lady for Monaco. Albert's is lucky because, having accepted that from his wife, has a great family, 2 sisters, and 8 nieces and nephews. Let's don't forget the in-laws like BEATRICE Casiraghi etc.

Colors, Colors...
If Princess Charlene wears an outfit like this on a good day, I wonder, what she wears to a funeral .
BTW: Was white not the colour of mourning in large parts of Asia? But I think only in buddhist cultures. And the President and his wife are for sure atheists... So, Princess Stephanie is excused...
I liked the table decorations very much: Red and yellow..., these are "lucky" colours in China.

Princess Stephanie resembles her cousin Baroness Elisabeth-Anne de Massy in this photo from the visit.

I like how the ladies (probably unintentionally) co-ordinated so Charlene was in black and her sisters-in-law were both in white.
Personally I am just amazed that the President of Chin has made a State Visit to Monaco given how rarely we see Monaco receive such visits.

If we saw more visits to Monaco hosted by the Princely couple the lesser known rooms of the palace might get a little more attention.
