Dr. Daniel Pauly, University Killam Professor, Institute for the Oceans and Fisheries, was awarded the 2016 Albert Ier Grand Medal (Science) by the Musée Océanographique of Monaco. The award is given to leading global marine researchers and experts and was presented by Prince Albert in Paris on November 22:

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is holding a meeting in Monaco from December 6-9 "to draft the outline of the Special Report on Climate Change and the Oceans and the Cryosphere".

Prince Albert, the newly appointed French Prime minister Bernard Cazeneuve and the Mayor of Lyon Gérard Collomb launched the opening of the Festival of lights in Lyon, France, on December 8, during the 18th edition of the Festival of Lights (Fete des Lumieres), a secular version of a religious tradition devoted to Virgin Mary and dating back 152 years ago.

On December 13 Prince Albert was in Quebec, Canada, to attend an event for the Arctic Circle on sustainable development and to sign a partnership agreement with the province.

Well, yes, it was a bit unfortunate that Prince Albert found himself stuck withing the protesters' march, but it was just un unlucky coincidence.... The protest was not against him!

On December 14 Prince Albert inaugurated the exhibition by artists of the Principality in homage to Michel Roger (former Minister of State of the Principality of Monaco):

And he attended the annual Christmas tree auction by Action Innocence Monaco that same day:

She stayed very near to the princely couple, Albert choose her as witness when his children Jacques and gabriella are born, she signedat the 'actes des naissances ' event with the other important persons as the minister of state, the archeveque Mrg Barsi, the president of the crown council and so....

I know that Mr Roger suffered a serious stroke, but does anyone know if he is still alive and, if so, how he is doing?

Louisette Levy-Soussan Azzoaglio, yes! In 2013 she received the Goodwill Ambassadors' Award for her "continuous outstanding contribution to the Principality for over 55 years". It's nice that she's so close to the family for so long now..

Michel Roger is still alive, but I haven't heard any news about his condition..
