Yesterday, September 27, Prince Albert attended the Gala Do Bal de la Riviera in Estoril at the Casino do Estoril in Lisbon, Portugal.
Also present were Prince Charles-Philippe d'Orléans and his wife Diana, Duchess of Cadaval.

I seen he was at a gala for his wife's foundation on the 18th of October as well but, strangely, she didn't attend. It's been almost 2 months since Charlene has done anything official in fact. I hope nothing is wrong.

.

Prince Albert is currently in Chile.

Yesterday, October 5, he participated in the conference Our Ocean Chile 2015 in Valaparaiso.

I was there, he's a very soft spoken man and it's plain to see ocean issues are close to his heart. I think his "niche" is extremely relevant (and highly political) these days. Obviously he had protocol around him but they were pretty relaxed, like he was. John Kerry's security, meanwhile, was worse than the President of Chile. :D

I know that it is not the place to publish this but to answer to Angela, she was not present but it was at the initiative of the princess Charlene foundation that this gala took place last saturday, Princess Charlene was not present but she worked to this project, it would be nice that she attended to this gala,

The palace announced on the official page of FB that the renovation of the palace are going on, that the secong session began at the beginning of september and will last to january 2016. I think as at the beginning of this year, Charlene moved with the children to avoid the noise and the dust to the children we did not see her that time , I think she is surely in Roc Agel

Chalene was wisiting the museum with Albert and the children end of september. almost three weeks but I agree with you, I hope to see her soon.

I noticed from the photos that Prince Emmanuel-Philibert de Savoie was present at the Gala last Saturday also.

I don't know how all the monarchs and state chiefs can meet this man without being able to voice their opinion about him. I wouldn't be able to do this.

I agree. However, there's a lot of Russian money in Monaco.

I don't like this Poutine but yes there are a lot of rich russian people in Monaco, they attend a lot of galas and spend a lot of money on the principauty, the head at the As Monaco football is a russian milliardaire, Ribolev

Prince Albert watched the 2015 Rugby World Cup Semi Final match between Argentina and Australia at Twickenham Stadium, London, on October 25:

That's correct. Plus, it is the duty of a state chief, no matter what...Imagine the outrage if Putin were snubbed!:whistling:

Sorry, I disagree. A head of state can choose not to meet certain people if they think they're "dodgy". However, I would agree that it isn't in Albert's interests to do such a thing. Unless he wants to seek other investors - now there's a thought! ?

Don't you think the principality ca afford other investors at the moment?:whistling::flowers:

:previous: How many languages does Prince Albert speak? Anyone know? I mean fluent in. :flowers:

Hi Lady Nimue...I know for certain he speaks Spanish, French, German, Monegasque and of course English very fluently.

This is the first time I've ever heard him speak Italian. I don't know if he's fluent but he is obviously comfortable with the language.

Considering that 20% of the Monaco population is Italian and that Monegasque is one of the dialects of Ligurian Italian it's no wonder Albert has atleast some knowledge of Italian.

Don't Corsicans speak Italian (and French)?

(..)

French is the majority language on Corsica but around 10% of the population is Italian. In addition to this about 20% still speaks the old Corsican language which is generally accepted as a Tuscan dialect.

Thank you, Moonmaiden. :flowers: I was wondering about the Italian, whether he was just saying a few appropriate phrases but is not fluent. If he knows 5 languages fluently, however, especially Spanish, he should easily be able to slip into Italian.

Just so. :flowers:

He does not speak German fluently. Over the years I've seen many reports from German TV stations where he was asked to answer in German or where he gave short answers in German by courtesy, it's basic knowledge he has (which is great!), but he's not fluent in German.

I've never heard that Albert could speak Spanish - French, English and Italian definitely and I suppose, Monégasque but I had not heard about the Spanish. Caroline does (or did) because she studied it for A levels all those years ago.
