you know, oddly enough, the dark stockings with those shoes don't bother me, maybe because it seems to match the bracelet she is wearing on top of her black sleeves. Now if it were an ankle sock....

Royal cheers for Start
Crown Princess Mette-Marit hails from Kristiansand, and when the local football squad Start played an important match over the weekend, she appeared to be one of their more enthusiastic fans...

Ehm, well... I love MM but she SHOULD get fashion adviser... or lady in waiting, if she doesn't have one I don't like collor of shoes... I don't like that big bracelet and simply, I think, she is wonderful woman, but why she wears sometimes wonderful shades of color and sometimes she is like old TV (black and white)

Mette-Marit christening Fram
Press release
Quote:
Her Royal Highness Crown princess Mette-Marit will be the godmother of Hurtigrutens new explorer ship, MS Fram.
(Trieste 18.11.06) The pride of the Hurtigruten Group, MS Fram, was launched today in Trieste, Italy. Specially built for cruising in the Arctic and Antarctic by Fincantieri, the world’s largest supplier of cruise ships, MS Fram marks an important new path for the Hurtigruten Group.
Hurtigruten are proud and feel honoured that Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mette Marit, has agreed to be the godmother of our new explorer ship, MS Fram. We look forward to the naming ceremony, which will take place in Oslo, 19 May 2007, says President and CEO, Henrik Andenaes.
In the summer of 2007 the Group will welcome aboard its first passengers on an explorer cruise to experience close up the wonders of Greenland. In due course this will be followed by Antartica.
MS Fram is named after Fridtjof Nansen’s polar ship, Fram, which can still claim to be the only ship that has sailed to the world’s northern-most and southern-most points. The choice of name highlights and strengthens the Hurtigruten Group’s position as one of the world’s leading providers of explorer cruises in Polar waters.
“Norway has a unique history of Polar exploration and the Hurtigruten itself, Norway’s coastal express, has a unique position as a tourist product both nationally and internationally. MS Fram follows in the wake of the great heroes of Polar exploration and enables us to offer a totally new experience to the expanding cruise market. The launch is an important milestone marking the way to MS Fram’s maiden explorer cruise in the summer of 2007,” says Henrik Andenæs, President and CEO of the Hurtigruten Group ASA. “We have already had a big rush of passengers who wish to sail with MS Fram on the first Greenland cruise leaving Reykjavik in Iceland on 27 May, 2007.”
114 metres long and 20 metres wide, MS Fram will have eight decks. There are 136 cabins furnished to a high standard, providing 318 beds. The ship also has good conference and meeting facilities. A specially equipped tender lobby makes expeditions to shore in Polar Circle boats both safe and comfortable. MS Fram also has a restaurant, bar, sauna, gym, Jacuzzi, passenger bridge and viewing lounge.
“We see strong growth in the explorer tourism market. Customers are often older, frequent travellers, financially secure and looking for genuine, back-to-nature experiences but without sacrificing comfort. So we are confident that many people will want to experience Greenland and the Antarctic on MS Fram,” maintains Andenæs proudly.
The Hurtigruten, Norway’s coastal express, has sailed the coast of Norway 365 days a year for the last 113 years carrying post, freight and passengers. It is this experience that makes the Hurtigruten Group an attractive provider of explorer cruises. The Group also offers cruises to Svalbard, the Antarctic and from Spring 2007, also to Greenland. It is just 1,362 kilometres from Siorapaluk in Greenland to the North Pole.
“It is difficult to get any closer to the North Pole, so we hope that this will be alluring for those looking for a somewhat different experience when they travel,” adds Andenæs.
Photo and article from launch will be available at www.hurtigruten.com - Monday 08:00am.

You didn't miss anything.
Though Marius is treated as a member of the Royal Family, he is not officially member of the Norwegian Royal Family and does not have any title.
It was just a mistake.

Mette Marit in New York, January 2007

The Crown Prince and Crown Princess is present for the opening of Tom Sandbergs exhibition at PS1 – MOMA – New York
|
This event has been removed from the official calendar but the court confirms to NTB that Mette-Marit will go to New York to attend the opening, so it seems Haakon is not going with her. Tom Sandbegs exhibition is considered the biggest "happening" in Norwegian modern art in New York since Jan Groth had his exhibition at the Guggenheim in 1986. The Curator is Bob Nickas
The Crown Princess other program in New York has not been made public yet

Tom Sandberg at P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center/MoMA (Norway - the official site in the United States)
Quote:
This exhibition by the Norwegian photographer Tom Sandberg is his first in an American museum. It also marks the first solo exhibition of work by a Norwegian artist in a New York museum for nearly twelve years.
Working for almost thirty years, and exclusively in black and white, the curator Bob Nickas writes about Sandberg: "He has produced a remarkable body of work that is consistent in its vision, imbued with a sense of mystery and a great depth of feeling. Whether he shows us sublime snow- covered mountains or a car parked in the street, the head of an infant or a spectral house shrouded in fog, his pictures, quite simply, are about what it means to be alive. Sandberg is an artist who understands that life is in the balance. Many of his pictures are aerial views — the earth seen from above, in a sense, in a state of suspension. One of his most hauntingly beautiful pictures is an image of a plane seeming to hover just a few feet above a runway. He returns again and again to pictures of the sun, the ocean, endless clouds, the horizon. In some of his pictures the image is barely visible, as if testing the limits of what the eye can see. Sandberg's work is also very much about photography, about the act of seeing, and ultimately about being in the world."

Maybe I'm a little out of the loop because I didn't realize she was scheduled to come to NY. I really hope we get to see pics. But as another member said, I think this might be a rather low profile visit. We'll see!!

Maybe they wanted one of the parents to stay home with the kids? It is cold and flu season (and probably a couple of other winter illnesses) and since Princess Ingrid Alexandra is in kindergarten and Marius at school, chances are that they will bring home other stuff in addition to empty lunch boxes and homework

That sounds a bit strange - usually business trips of "normal people" are not rescheduled because their kids could catch the flu.

Maybe Haakon and Mette-Marit wanted one of them to be at home for Princess Astrid's birthday dinner?

He should be happy he is man, had he been a "she" we would al think (s)he was pregnant
It could also be a mistake on the webiste, it is not exactly flawless (understatement )

I would think that the likely reason for Haakon to stay home if the website is right and he's now not going to New York, would be because of Princess Astrid's birthday. It make sense that he would need to and would also want to go to that birthday dinner for her. Just my own thoughts but maybe we'll get a better clue later as to why he's staying.

If he were a "she" it would be enough if he showed up at the "Needle eye" meeting like his wife wearing unflattering clothes and revealing a lot of tummy. I'm waiting for the next couple of "MM is pregnant"-articles!

Like I said, that's what I thought. But the interesting thing looking at the schedule is that Mette-Marit's in NYC on the 11th, and she's got an engagement in Norway on the 13th. So, she's not going to staying in NYC for long and may very well be back in time for Princess Astrid's b-day dinner on the 12th.
