On Monday the King handed out King OlavV cancer research prize. The winner of 750 000 NOk was Proffesor Dr.Med Øystein Fodstad on behalf of the Norwegian Cancer association
the King has also given a short interveiw to VG about his cancer but its not online

Today there is a huge military parade in Oslo, all the Kings guard and soldiers who have formerly served in that company will walk from the Akershus fortress to the Palace square where the King will do the yearly inspection, usually this takes place in the Kings Guard Camp but since they are 150 years now they do it infront of the Palace today. I wonder if anyone else from the family will show up. There is also a reception inside the Palace but we usually never see pictures of those.

I looked at the parade and the inspection of the guard. The crown prince had joined the king to inspect the soldiers. There was some cameras from nrk there. Maybe there will be something on the news later today.

I read something about that in Se og Hör ... I think they are already in holidays (The Queen celebrated her birthday there)... but don't ask me where.

July is the holiday month in Norway. Generally, the school holidays start around June 23rd (St. John's Eve/Midsummer), the work holidays a week later, - and continue for four-five weeks. Norway is the country of summer intern workers in July - to put it like that.

Funeral of former Prime Minister Lars Korvald
You will se some pictures this wednesday, but not the happy kind. Other than that she ressumes her official agenda in the middel of August.
Queen Sonja is going to attend the funeral of former Prime Minister Lars Korvald (1916-2006) in Bragernes Church in Drammen on the 12.07 at 12.30

Queen Sonja is really the funeral-goer of the family, she seems to have gone to all the ones where their presense has been required lately, it would be nice if they split it a little, noone likes going to funerals but I guess here it makes sense since she would know him much better than her children. Korvald was Prime minister from 1972-1973. The expenses for his funeral is covered by the state. He dies only two weeks after his wife he was married to for 63 years
