:previous: This was the first time the King attended an engagement outside the palace since he was discharged from hospital on November 20th, and he seemed to be in great shape.

https://tv.nrk.no/serie/fotball-nm-menn-veien-til-ullevaal/MSPO30630117/03-12-2017

There were also some controversy yesterday:

VG article with quotes translated by me:
http://www.vg.no/sport/fotball/cupen/beklager-til-kongen-etter-pokalstuntet/a/24202414/
Cup champion Aleksander Melgalvis, 28, does not regret how he handled the king's trophy on Sunday evening, but he understands the reactions afterwards.

VG met him the day after the cupfinal victory against Sarpsborg 08.

When the Lillestrom players were to celebrate with their own fans on Sunday night, Melgalvis started a stripping show that created a good mood among the party-lovers who were present.

However, NFF (The Football Association of Norway) was not so pleased with the use of the king's trophy in the stunt. The 28-year-old understands the reactions.

"Of course, I understand that it was a little to much. I'm sorry, but I'm not regreting it.''

Q: Do you want to apologize to the King? After all, it was the King's trophy .

A: "I was so privileged that I got to meet the the King yesterday, so I may say sorry to him today,'' says the midfielder and smiles.

VG has been in contact with the Palace on Monday, but they would not comment on the matter.

In other news: Here is some photos from the King's formal audiences on Nowember 30th:

https://scanpix.no/spWebApp/preview/editorial/tc6952f9

The King has also had several ordernary audiences since he left the hospital, but there's no photos of them.

About audiences:

Formal audiences:
A newly-appointed ambassador to Norway from another country must present his or her credentials to the King at a formal audience. At the audience the ambassador presents his or her credentials (in the form of Letters of Credence) to the King. When the King has accepted them the ambassador is formally accredited to Norway.

Ordernary Audiences:
Meetings with the prime minister, other ministers and several other people.

All audiences takes place in the King's private office (the same office that were used by his father and grandfather).

BTW, HM had his first audience only 3 days after he was discharged from hospital - which led to a magazine declaring on its front page: ''Han gir Alt for Norge'' (He gives All for Norway).

Alt for Norge (All for Norway) was/is the royal motto of King Haakon VII, King Olav V, and King Harald V.

What is a pokal? I concur with the Palace that it was proper not to comment.

:previous: Oh, I forgot to translate the norwegian word 'pokal' to the english word 'trophy'. I've edited the above post now.

Articles from Royal Central and Norway Today about the King's engagement on January 8th - see photos and videos in post 200:

King Harald opens the Norwegian Society for Sea Rescue’s new centre – Royal Central
His Majesty King Harald V of Norway opened Monday the Norwegian “Sea Rescue Company’s” new centre at Langgrunn near the town of Horten, south of the Norwegian capital of Oslo. The centre “RS Noatun” is the company’s new school and adventure centre.

His Majesty had the honour to cut the red ribbon under the supervision of Horten’s mayor, Are Karlsen, employees and volunteers at the Norwegian Sea Rescue Company. Hundreds of children and spectators were present and were very happy that the King had wanted to visit them. After the official opening, the ceremony continued in the restaurant Njord with food, speeches and songs about the sea performed by the famous Norwegian singer Helene Bøksle.

https://norwaytoday.info/news/the-king-opened-the-new-search-and-rescue-center/
The rescue company has now created educational course activities in training in navigation, and search and rescue under one roof. In the summer, the center will offer training for seagoing children and young people.

RS Noatun is the largest single investment for the rescue company’s 126-year history. The King has been the Rescue Company’s highest protector for as long as King Oscar 2 donated 1,000 kroner to the company in 1891.

Leaving the event:

About the King:

1. The event is being sent live on NRK1 and HM appears to be in great shape.

2. There has been some concern about the King attending this event. - Why? Because he was (as most people here know) hospitalized in November with an infection after he attended the Royal Air Force's reception ceremony for F-35 at Ørland Air Station (also a partial outdoor event).

See the above post for yesterday's photos where a very happy King congratulated Marit Bjørgen and Martin Johnsrud Sundby with their individual victories.

Article from Trønder-Avisa with quotes translated by me:
Her sniker Thomas til seg en klem av kongen -Trønder-Avisa
Thomas Albertsen Dahlen, who finished the first leg, was also the first to get up to the royal tribune, and used the chance to get a hug with the beloved and sports-interested monarch.

"I did not think at all. But when I first got to met him, I thought I could as well give him a hug too," he laughs.

''It was a 'once in a lifetime'. It was awesome and very great to meet him. A memory for life!''

Article from Aftenposten with two quotes translated by me:
https://www.aftenposten.no/100Sport...-til-a-le--Det-var-ikke-planlagt-248415b.html
"I asked the king if we were able to entertain him. It was very great to meet him. I have seen him on skiing arrangements before and know that he is interested,'' says Albertsen Dahlen, who got a big smile and laughter back from the king when he took the opportunity to get a hug.
Q: How much would you say this hug means to you?

''It's at the top. It was not planned, but it is the most important hug of my life," says Albertsen Dahlen.
Photo of the hug:

As one can read, even sports stars think it's great to meet the King (a monarch who is undoubtedly the world's most popular head of state in his own country).

NRK1 sent the gala performance from 19:55 to 21:15 on Easter Eve, where the Queen sat down for an interview with Norwegian talk show host Anne Lindmo to talk about her many tours around Norway.

If you are not taken directly to the interview, see from 12:10 in the video:
Turistforeningen 150 år - NRK TV

Here is an Danish article from Ekstra Bladet with google translation - and some quotes translated by me:
'Kollega' afslører hemmelig side af dronning Margrethe - Ekstra Bladets - translation
For Queen Sonja, it has been 143 trips and more than 700 days out in the nature, she explained in this very honest interview, where she also revealed Queen Margrethe's attitude to Norwegian ''utedoer'' - ie outdoor toilets (or outhouses).

We have a picture where one can see that the Queen often inspects the toilet facilities, said the program host (Anne Lindmo).

Q. This is from Kjeåsen? A. Yes, it is, the Queen said.

''Queen Margrethe who has walked with me in the mountains has written a whole little epistle (a special kind of poem) about ''til dos på fjeldet'' (to toilet in the mountain). She has had a lot of experience on our outhouses - along with me of course,'' said the laughing Queen, while a photo of her was shown on the screen, showing her on a toilet with a picture of herself and the King on the wall in outhouse.

"It is a Norwegian tradition to have pictures of the royal family on the outhouse-walls. It is a great honor, said an excited Queen,'' adding that it is also a tradition to look at old magazines while you are on the toilet.
I had to add a few things to this quote - which was not included in the article, so this is not a direct translation.

Thanks eya! HM looked great.

--------------------

I would love to know why this tradition originated ...
According to the Norwegian historian Jon Storfjord, it's due to this:

When the weekly magazines came in the early 1900s, then people began to use them for reading and to clean the anus.
There were often royal images on page three - and most people thought it was a bit rude to clean the anus with the royals, so they tore out the pictures and hung them on the wall.
