Queen Sonja of Norway took a day of from sports and visited the scenic Summer Palace in Beijing on August 14th, 2008. Photography is one of her favorite hobbies and she took the opportunity to take many photos during her visit. The Queen and King of Norway are in China because of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

true... If you have a look into the official calendar you'll see that she had less public appearances this year.
It has been announced at the beginning of the year that the Royal Couple will step down a bit (due to their age) and that the year will be a more calm one (also because 2007 was such a busy year for both of them.. with 2 giant Birthday bashs ).

Furthermore: many of the events the King and Queen attend are "private" ones that take place behind closed doors... sadly .. there are so many galas and dinners we never get pictures of.
(like the Dinner for the Bishops, for example... it's a big Gala Event, but there only appear 1 or 2 pictures 5 months later ).

I'd love to see Sonja out and about more often...She's such a charming and funny woman...
but she deserves to have a little break.
(she did such a fantastic job when Harald had his heart problems... she worked like a Queen Regent ).
I wonder how her health condition is... she suffered from feet problems and had to undergo a surgery some time ago...

The King attended the premiere of the movie "Max Manus". The movie is about Max Manus who was a norwegian resistance fighter during the second world war.

He worked for the Linge Company, specializing in ship sabotage.
