Norway's crown prince and princess received an especially personal honour this week when they were presented with an award which took the form of a cartoon on themselves. The framed picture, which depicts Haakon and Mette-Marit strolling through a snowy scene underneath a streetlight, marked the royal couple winning Norway's "Tolerance" prize.
At a presentation on Wednesday, both were praised for their "impressive efforts" in exemplifying open-mindedness and the values of tolerance and acceptance.
The organisation presenting the award said that the pair had been chosen because they are seen as being "modern, socially aware and tolerant people, who have adopted some of the best humanitarian values in the Norwegian society".
And a new piece of artwork to add to their interior decor wasn't all Haakon and Mette-Marit walked away with. They also received 10,000 Norwegian kroners in prize money.
The Tolerance award was established in 1987 by a monetary donation by a former president. Winners are selected by a committee within the Norwegian parliament.
1. The award took the form of a cartoon of the couple, and is the work of a Norwegian artist
2. The prince and princess were honoured for exemplifying open-mindedness and the values of tolerance and acceptance
I wonder if this is a new official picture of the couple or is it from an interview, I have not seen it before? I found it in an article about the church they are visiting today, the article was from 20.01.05. Unforunatly the quality is not the best and therefore their faces looks alittle weird

Thanks for this picture Larzen. :)
I think it's a terrific picture of Haakon and Mette-Marit, even if the quality is bad. I love the starkness of the lighting and both Haakon and Mette-Marit in black.
Today Mette-Marit paid a visit to Fountain house in Oslo, Fountain house is a worldwide organisaton that helps people that suffer with menthal\psychological problems with rehabilitation, work practise, and a place to meet people is the same situation. Read more about the organisation here:
She said that the King was grateful for all the support he had recived and that they (the royal family) was relieved that they had gotten reassurance from the doctors that the King (probably) will be fine
I´m sure that Mette-Marit will be a gorgeous Queen. She will be a modern Queen and it seems that she has accepted her royal role in the last years especially since Ingrid´s birth...

The blue ski suit is from the collection "KJUS" from Norwegian alpine skiier Lasse Kjus, Letizia also has ski clothes from his collection, the burgundy pullower seems to be some sort of local thing as it says Beitostølen Resort at the back
Since the King got sick , the first plan about spending easter in sikkilsdalen got cancelle, therefor the royal family spent easter in Oslo. The two first pictures show Haakon and Mette-Marit skiing in the easter break with Ingrid behind on her sleigh
