Very nice opics of MM in Norwegian Elle. And I like her idea to be photographed by Norwegian photographer and using her private clothing instead of designer ones. Could someone translate or summarize her interview? I think MM doesn't give many interviews.

I am a bit on the fence however about a princess posing for such a magazine. Elle isn't a bad magazine of course, but it just seems so common and so "Hollywood" to pose for pictures. While I applaud Mette-Marit for her various condions (her own clothes, southern Norway where she grew up, a Norwegian photographer, etc.), I feel that there could've been other channels Mette-Marit could've used to promote her pet causes, such as AIDS.
Maybe it's because many of us do not have access to the article or cannot read the article, but it seems that we are talking more about the condions imposed on the interview than the causes Mette-Marit champions and wanted to promote through this interview -- which sort of defeats the purpose of the interview, doesn't it?
(On the other hand, as a big fan of Mette-Marit's, I did very much liked the pictures and secretly wish that she had worn at least one designer gown and really glammed it up as I think every once in a while (like during her trip to Finland with the wavy hair or at Odysseas's baptism) Mette-Mairt does glam very, very well.)

Another thing that I think is nice about the photos is how little make up she wore. It reminds me of a photo shoot Jamie Lee Curtis (a U.S. actress) did, in which she had no airbrushing at all. I think it sets a nice example for young girls to see a beautiful famous woman looking natural, because you see that even famous women have flaws.

Here is the last picture from the interview. I can give some extracts from the interview, but I am not a very good translater, I am afraid..
It tells how she brings the whole family to the photoshoot, and Haakon is watching the kids as she is styled and photographed. Marius is taking a bath, but the water is cold, so Ingrid isn`t allowed to, which leads to wild protests.
Mette-Marit didn`t want to be styled too much, because she says she is really a "jeans girl"!
She talks about HIV/AIDS tolerance and physical health, and that one thing that is important to her is the society`s acceptance of those who are different. The demand to be best at everything is tough on, especially children. It is important for her that children can develope and grow without too much pressure.
She talks alot about the visit to Malawi and how it affected her deeply. She felt guilty and sad when she left there.
She also talks about the wedding; how she was calm and others around stressed out. She says it was because so much happened before the wedding which was tough to handle and that she (and Haakon) several times said "I can`t do this, it`s too hard". So for the wedding she was past that and ready to move forward.
What she likes best about being the crown princess, is all the great people she gets to meet. And worst; well, she would have liked a little less attention on her. "I am not created for this much attention, but I have to handle it".
And LOVE and Haakon! Wow, they are in love! She feels strongly that they belong together. She fell for his warmth and odd humour. They laugh a lot together. He is very generous with a strong inner moral. He doesn`t say anything bad about anyone and doesn`t have prejudices. She says she makes an effort each day to be a good person with Haakon.
She talks about parent-hood and how they try to give the children, to the extent that it is possible, a "normal" upbringing. It`s important for her to spend much time with her family, and that they know that they are priority no. 1. She says they are quite strict parents, but in different ways. Haakon is the most practical when it comes to activities and play. But she says she has taught Ingrid how to ski! (Cross country of course).
The interview ends with a question about the future of the monarchy. She says it`s not up to them to decide, but that Haakon is ready, and that she will stand by his side.

Thanks for the translation Emma69! :)
I think you did a great job as much of what you've translated "speaks" to me about who Mette-Marit truly is — and why she is one of my favourite princesses.

This is not really that surpising! Her clothes are pretty practical and very simple. She doesn't seem to care so much for fashion, before when she was a commoner and even afterwards.
I think if it were up to her, she'd show up at every event in a pair of jeans if she could!

I love her (and them as a couple) even more now! It's very clear that without overly gushing or having too many public displays of affection that Haakon and Mette-Marit love each other very much. I think it says a lot abou their relationship that she wants to be a better person because of him.
(Can I also say that I love Haakon even more now to hear these many nice things about him, from his odd sense of humour to his lack of judgement. )

Thanks Emma for the great article and pictures. Reading this thread just re-enforced what I feel. This is my favorite royal family. You can clearly see that HM and MM love each other very much. I love that they really do try to make the children a priority. I think you can tell by the way the children behave that they know they are loved and cherished. They do a great job in a very difficult situation. I love MM!!!

Getting the beard helped immensely in making Haakon look older, imo.

Thank you, Larzen. What a lot of work on your part and you did a very nice job - it was easily understood. Mette-Marit and Haakon are such a lovely couple. All references to Haakon are very impressive. He would be one of the royals I would love to meet.
