Maxima is a Princess of the Netherlands and that status carries with her everywhere she goes. It does not stop short of the Dutch boundaries. When Maxima and Mathilde were at the United Nations headquarters in New York City they did not cease to be the Crown Princesses of the Netherlands and Belgium simply because they were in another country other than their own ruling country; they were not merely two women visiting New York City. Just as when Mathilde visits Denmark next week her role she will not be a mere tourist to Copenhagen.
The difference may be, however, in reference to the pictures posted at least, is that Willem and Maxima were at a private party in Argentina rather than attending a formal state function.

Her hat is sooo awful its funny , I think it is inapropriate for a princess on an oficial function though, she could have maybe worn it in private in Argentina or Holland

What was she thinking with that hat!? Does anyone know what that official engagement was about (to what, where)?

Maxima opened a new centre for children with serious (social) development problems in Alphen aan den Rijn.
Im sorry but even if it is an event with children it does not excuse that tacky outfit, she is even wearing a animal print top under the jacket. Im very much against royals dressing down when visiting children, they deserve the same respect and dignety as adults, can you Imagine Maxima gong dressed like that to an "adult function" I think not.
I thought we would see no more leopard prints after the grand duchess experiments this summer

About this hat ... I have one in black trimmed with velvet and while it is quite fun and keeps your head warm, it comes down through your eyebrows so that you can't see others eye to eye. You have to either push the brim of the hat up or look up at the person (if you are shorter than them) in order to see another person and have a conversation with them. When you're wearing it to and from work and aren't talking to anyone it's not a problem, but it's not very conducive during a royal duty when Maxima is expected to at least make small chat with her hosts.
