I loved the bit about Queen Beatrix being so happy she was pratically dancing from the article Brenda posted. It seems quite uncharacteristic of the Queen who seems quite formal. But somehow it seems like something she would do when hearing such ecstatic news.
There's a video from the Press Conference on Princess Maxima's pregnancy, and I hope you enjoy it if you do watch it, but it's presented in Dutch, and I think many of you probably don't understand anything of that language as I don't...lol. From the Franco-Iberian Royals Message board, there has been speculation that Maxima informed family and friends of her pregnancy before it was made publicly known via e-mail. But a journalist from the Business News Radio in the Netherlands somehow got their hands on the e-mail and made it public. Below is the text and translation.
Alex y yo les queriamos contar que estamos esperando una criatura para principios de Enero. Si, estoy embarazada, un shock. Pero estamos felizisimos. Es uno solo (para los que leyeron que me hice un tratamiento y espero mellizos) y no nos hicimos tratamiento. I wish I could take credit for the translation, but I can't. Someone else did the translation, I have merely posted the translation.
But interesting e-mail don't you think? I found it interesting that Maxima mentioned the rumours/stories that circulated about her. I guess she does read all (or some) of the gossip and dribble written about her. And I loved how she signed the e-mail "Alex & Max" - so simple and understated. As if this baby wouldnt' be the next heir to the Netherlands!

Willem-Alexander and Máxima: News and Pictures (Jul 2003-May 2004)
I was in the norway royal family part of the forum and the topic turmed to maxima. Alot of people dont like saying that something abot her is fishy, even some dutch people. I like her but what do you think?
Also i was on a spanish website about maxima and they spelled her name maximum and i was just wondering if thats the spanish version and if it's pornouced like the car.
Where on the message board did you read about Maxima? this seams to be a no-no subject, interesting...i would have thought that the obviously more than detailed discussion of members of the royal family made a critical approach possible from time to time.
I like her too. i was in Les Tribunes Royales Norway, and in "Should Marius Be Given The Title Prince?". The maxima topic started when someone said that W-A and Haakon could of pick better wives. There isnt alot of maxima in the norway forum as i thought, but i was in someother fourm( days before) and someone said that something is fishy about her and another person whose dutch said he was 'nt one of the dutch people crazy about her, that she does nothing for the people and will never speak dutch right because it's not her mother tongue. Also since her father was part of the junta(sp) blood is on her hands too. And another person said that the heir should just be dutch and not latino. But ever since her marriage to W-A, i've become more interstead in her navtie country, i was watching the movie " Evtia" today does'nt maxima remind you of her.
Imagine when your own children say to you: "But mom, He/She speaks funny!"
