Queen Beatrix has attended the Essent ISU World Cup Speed Skating in Heerenveen today, March 24:

Nice that she was there. According to the news she only saw the 1000 meters for women and after that met a few skaters.

She was really funny with her remarks,especially to Kramer as she said;"I really don't know what sort of telegram I can send to you anymore",due to his many many victories in championships...grin..

HM The Queen will attend the 25th anniversary of the 4th and 5th of May Committee organising the annual Remembrance of the Dead on the eve of May 4th,and the Liberation Day on may 5th.

Nieuwe Kerk,Amsterdam march 27th.

On wednesday march 28th HM will open the new venue of the Zonnehuis Group Amstelland carecenter in Amstelveen

I just cycled on the Dam square and it seemed quite busy at the church. Lots of cars, police, spectators and some vans of the NOS and other broadcasters. And it seemed somebody at the entrence was playing with fire.

Queen Beatrix unveiled a monument for Willem van Oranje, made by Jet Schepp, at the Abbey in
Middelburg today, March 30, 2012.
The monument consists of two reliefs in the Loggia of the Prince logement of the Abbey. Willem van
Oranje, father of the nation and paterfamilias, and his wife Charlotte de Bourbon lived in Middelburg.

Queen Beatrix looks lovely and happier than I've seen her for a long time.
The hats are not exactly to my liking but they are the Queen's trademark, rather like those satellite dish + bird nest ones are Sophie's (Countess of Wessex).

I was wondering what the connection was between William the Silent and Middelburg was,thanks for answering my question with out me even having to ask!

I was certain he was buried at the Nieuwe Kerk in Delft,but thought for a moment that I was wrong.
