Since there were just posts of the Queen receiving the Olympic medalists I thought I would post this picture of her at the 1952 games...I thought it was so great! Picture from www.corbis.com

Helsinki, Finland: ...For Holland. Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands leaps for joy as Holland scores a goal during the July 30th Olympic water Polo match between Holland and Hungary in Helsinki. The royalty, from left to right are: Britain's Duke of Kent, the Duke of Edinburgh, an unidenitifed man; Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands, Beatrix's father; and the leaping Princess. Holland and Hungary drew 4-4.

if you do not know how to post dates that only is for that day or yearly events like birthdays list them here and I will do it

dates like important birth of the royal family
death in the royal family like princess Juliana
different big evenst for dutch royals like the one today Prinsjesdag
dates for future state visits or evensts like paralympics
I hope there is some of you that can help out

Ow. Did someone saw her on tv today, on 2 Vandaag they showed something about forest, the people introduced princess Irene and Queen Beatrix.
Beatrix came to the place at time, but the managers didn´t expected at that time, thus they showed up a bit too late, She laughed and said, `well, i´m on time´ with a laugh. She showed up in red. A bit later her youger sister arrived, and they kissed each other twice on the cheeks.... that was a nice moment...

Thanks for the photo.

Beatrix looks different, but still stunning and regal with her hair down.

What ring is on Beatrix's finger?

Ya, I noticed that too. Her hair seems less bouffant that way. I don't want to be rude to Her Majesty, but I think she needs a new hairstyle the style she normally wears just keeps getting bigger and bigger. It would have looked fine in the 1960s, but it would look so good without so much volume to it. Granted some looks are timeless, Queen Elizabeth II has worn her hair the same way since she became Queen, but it suits her and has more of timeless look to it. But Beatrix, that duo does nothing for you ... I hope no one takes this the wrong way. Just wanted to "express" lol

Thanks for the picture. I think it's great. I too like Beatrix's hair that way. It looks more natural. Eloise is so adorable. She gets cuter every day. Casimir is also getting big, and adorable. He looks like Laurentien, whereas I think Eloise looks like Constanjin.

The Queen looks very elegant in her dark grey jacket and the purple/pink dress. Thank you everyone for the pictures. (Is it that cold in Holland already that the Queen has to wear a semi-heavy looking jacket?)

How long is the President of Pakistan visiting the Netherlands for? And why were Willem and Maxima not part of the welcoming of the President?

The Queen looks very classy. Is it me or has she aged tremendously since Prince Claus died? She must really miss him.

The President was on a two day visit. I dont know why Willem & Maxima weren't there. Perhaps they had some other engagment? The president spent most of his visit meeting with businessmen and politicians anyway. He's off to Italy now where he'll be meeting the Pope.

Message from BRMB:

Frederik & Mary of Denmark in the Netherlands

Posted by Stig on 30/9/2004, 15:34:41
Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark were in the Netherlands last Thursday-Friday on the invitation of Queen Beatrix, who had organized a royal hunt. Present were also the Prince and Princess of Orange.

According the BRMB, is Prince Hendrik (husband of Danish Queen) in the Netherlands at the moment. Prince Henrik and a Europa Nostra delegation will visit Queen Beatrix today at Noordeinde Palace. Also a film 'Jugendstil and The Hague'' will be shown.

It is probably her engagement ring. In The Netherlands Catholics wear their wedding/engagement rings on their left hand and Protestants wear them on their right.
