In the evening of April 27th 1967 Her Majesty The Queen was called away from a State Banquet. She had to excuse to the King and Queen of Nepal and rushed to the city of Utrecht, in the middle of the country. The State Banquet was left into the good hands of her spouse, Prince Bernhard.

In the Academic Hospital in Utrecht, Princess Beatrix gave birth (via caesarean) to a son. The nation was wild enthusiast. A Prince! A Prince! The royal infant is a Prince! Later, in an interview, Queen Juliana told about her mixed feelings. Beside the joy for her first grandchild, she felt the wild roar and joy outside for a Prince as a blow in her face. What about her mother [Queen Wilhelmina], her grandmother [Queen Emma, the Regentess] and what about she herself or her eldest daughter [Princess Beatrix] ? Were these ladies not meritorious and subservient to the best interests of the Kingdom? The Queen knew that the joy was well-meant and natural, but she could not avoid a sadness in her.

The woman both Henri and Marengo refer to said/exclaimed;"A King a King,we have a KING!!" This set off the remark by Queen Juliana in the 1973 documentary by Jan van Hillo on her Silver Jubilee,she was saddened AND annoyd;''n Vrouw uit het publiek....(a woman from the public...)as if all her predecessors were nothing,just women.."

Guess it dates me,oh well never mind that,but I watched it all on the telly then and there,both the scenes outside the hospital at the birth,the woman who exclaimed almost hysterically,as well as the documentary in 1973.

The Prince and Princess have made known that they are not interested at all in the gender of the new royal infant. They just hope on a healthy child.

In contrary to the two previous times, the new royal infant will not be shown to the world the same day. Reason: the two previous times Princess Catharina-Amalia and Princess Alexia had signs of undercooling due to the expostion so soon after their birth.

There will be no gunsalute since it is no future Heir, but the premier has requested all public buildings to flag with the national flag and the orange pennant, to mark the festive birth.

There is betting about the gender of the baby. Most betters at brokers predict a Prince to be born.

Princess Máxima payed a private visite to the Keukenhof with Princesses Amalia and Alexia yesterday.The Princesses were taken on a tour by Keukenhof director P.de Vries.No foto's,sorry.

Indeed. It is a historical and royal place as well.
The park started with Lady Jacoba, Duchess of Bavaria, Countess of Holland, Zealand and Hainaut (1401-1436) who lived nearby on Teylingen Castle.
This large park was used for the flower decorations of her residences but also for the providing of (medicinal and culinar) herbs, vegetables and fruit. It was known as the 'Kitchen Courtyard', working for Lady Jacoba's gigantic Household.

In the centuries the park evolved into a renowned flower park but the name 'Keukenhof' ('Kitchen Courtyard') remained the same.

The Dutch Royal House is known for always using wonderful Dutch flower decorations. Even the Pope always thanks "for the beautiful flowers from the Netherlands" during the Easter Mass and the blessing Urbi et Orbi at Saint Peter's Square.
