Princess Laurentien today at the opening of the "Brede School" ,Amsterdam.

Has she been reading our Forum I wonder, from avant-garde to lace is a U-turn.
Not her fauld ofcourse, this terribly political correct school, just wish that they deliver much better in the knowledge department, but that goes for most schools and higher education at any level here. All the changes haven't been changes for the better, just a change for the heck of it,whimsical, useless, pointless and desastrous IMO.

I know, and even though in theory that's pretty romantic a concept indeed, falling in love with a childhood friend, I for the life of me cannot fathom falling for any of the kids of my parents' friends that I grew up with. Nothing against the people in question at all, on the contrary, some of them turned out great, smart, handsome, etc.
But it's just..when you grow up together almost, then, and I'm speaking for myself here obviously, then I'd see these people more as cousins or siblings, or something along those lines, and not as potential partners. So in that sense, I find the fact they grew up together even weirder, sorry. Also isn't there the element that as a person, you want to go your own path, choose your own friends etc.etc., and not people that your parents practically picked for you if they could help it..
I mean, I'm all for tradition, but marrying either a cousin or the child of my parent's friends is really a pretty, dare I say it, creepy idea to me.
All the same, I do appreciate Laurentien, as I said before. She truly seems the kind of woman one would like to have as a friend, warm, interested, fun, kind, intelligent without judging, etc. (not withstanding the fact she's a PR pro so would know how to impress people through the media, but all the same, I think it's safe to say she's an asset to this royal family)

Yes she does not lack a sense of humor or maybe she had not choice but to join in the fun, but again what is she wearing, a little house on the prairie blouse with a short sleeved sweater, it is almost as silly as her hat.

Princess Laurentien is not only a very important person inside the royal family, she is also a wonderful person in public, so to see.
Besides quite laurentienesque outfits, I think she does a great job in the shadow of the omnipresent Máxima.

I think you are quite right. Laurentien does an excellent job. IMO, Queen Beatrix should be and most likely is very proud of both Maxima & Laurentien.

off topic I guess but I agree, I stopped following Dutch education a long time ago, it's getting too confusing

I love her dress! It actually looks as if she's toned it down a bit.

I agree, she looks smashing in it, and it is very appropriate for the event and the weather. The couple looks radiant btw.

I hope she has toned it down because she looks wonderful! I very rarely say that about her clothing.

I like her summer dress. They are a nice couple together. I also love the grey outfit she wore at the opening of the library, she looks very elegant in it.

Between Princess Laurentien toning down her clothes and Infanta Elena losing the braid, it makes one wonder if they are sneaking a peek now and then.

Princess Laurentien is a 40 years old lady, a very active mother of two little ladies and one lord (Countess Eloïse, Count Claus-Casimir and Countess Leonore).
She is doing a lot of efforts to keep her body slim and straight. You can see she attachs a lot of importance to fitness and physical shape. There are not that much women for her age, with three children, with such a fantastic body.
Her clothing is feed for conversation since she came on the royal stage some 7 years ago. But I like it that we can see three totally different ladies (Laurentien, Mabel and Máxima) in the Queen's family. When we look to the sons of Princess Margriet: all of them are married to interchangeable clones and I never managed to keep Aimée, Marilène, Annette etc. apart. They are not that outspoken in features, character and clothing.
Yes, now that the style laurentienesque has become a bit more subdued, I like it very much.
