I think Queen Beatrix wears the best hats because they are bold, unusual and you can always tell who the wearer is even from the back! I also like Queen Elizabeth's hats, which in recent years have become really quite amazing! I have to say that hats do not suit everyone - I bought a country hat last winter (kind of green, waxed gents hat with a brim and feather in it - sort of thing my grandad would have worn with a Barbour jacket) and I wore it all the time I went for a walk in the countryside. Then I saw a photo of me wearing it and was horrified at how silly I looked!!!

Maxima certainly has an eye for the right hat for the right time. The whimsy's she wore on Queen's Day and Rememberence Day are really gorgeous.
I think a large part of the "look" is getting the hairstyle right and on these two occasions she definitely did.

Frankly speaking, this hat is my dream. It suits to her perfectly.

Compared with her last few this is awful. Somehow it just doesn't look quite right, I think she would look better if she had an updo.

Princess Maxima's hat contains classic colours-white and dark.
It's always out of time!
