Lol, the outfit is similar to what other royals (mainland Europe) and celebs have worn and have gotten praised. So I was confused on why it being call an air hostess outfits on this tread.
I like the dress, peplum outfits are very in right now

Agreed completely! I really like this look, and it's appropriate for a day when she's there to support the two most senior members of the family

I am also confused on why this outfit is considered too old for Kate. Maybe its the color? I must confess I wore something similar to this when I was in my late 20's/early 30's. If you change the color and the fabric, its a lovely spring dress for a woman around Kate's age. Not too young and not too matronly.

The only thing that I liked about her outfit is the colour, the cut on the shoulder part of it makes her shoulders look huge and kind of hard to look at, but it is generally well tailored

I think she looks great. Nothing 'air hostess' about it.

This is, IMO, the most appropriate (and flattering) outfit Kate has ever worn for daytime. This look would stand up to almost any woman in sophisticated clothing anywhere (perhaps, even Sheika Mozah). Kate looks smashing!

She looks good; don't love the hat (though it's not awful).

I like the L K Bennett dress but the way she has pulled the jacket of the outfit in with the belt doesnt work for me. Personally im not a fan of the pendullum style of jackets/dresses. Like the hat reminds me of others she has worn she most like this small box style

I agree. She really got it totally right here I think. I love this look on her.
Let's hope she keeps it up! She has three more engagements coming over the next few weeks

Enchanting - this is real retro 1940's styling and I love it! She could be out of Brief Encounter!!!

Overall she looks fine. In general, however, I wish she would change up her hair style a bit. Pull it up and back ... alot of flowing hair for such a little hat. I would prefer that she wear a large picture-type (I think that's what it's called) of hat ... she's certainly tall enough to pull it off.
As for the haters on this board ... really?

I have to agree about the style. I've never been a fan of this cut. Other that that, she looks lovely. The Queen looks absolutely fabulous though! Love the pink on her majesty.

I like the general style of the dress and the jacket. However, not to be mean, but it didn't look quite right on Kate. I wouldn't want to start the whole "too thin" debate, but the dress just accentuated how thin Kate's frame is. The dress was supposed to be figure-hugging, but it literally hang loose on the Duchess.

I think it was an excllent outfit for the occasion she did not overshadow the Queen but looked pretty and fresh.IMO But even better had she tired her hair back. I liked her makeup and the little bag was cute.

I quite agree with you 100%. She looks wonderful..........and I certainly would love to be built like her again as I was during her age!

You made me laugh!!! Yes there is a double standard, isn't there. Look up the quote made by Prince Philip sometime in reference to wives that don't work and ladies of the evening. The man is a hoot.....not that I agree with him 100%.....but he does speak his mind.

I also wore a similar peplum suit back in my 20s in a teal wool material, one of my favorite suits, but not with a belt which I thought looked too heavy for today's look. This is a wonderfully retro outfit, completed by the perky little hat and very nice clutch. I'm so glad she pulled her hair back; it looked lovely streaming down her back and so suited the hat and overall style. And she wore light hosiery, thank goodness. Kate really made a glamorous appearance today, deferring to the Queen in color but definitely standing out on her own.

She looks very nice. I don't always like the type of hat she wears, but I like her look!
