Definitely a difference in the lighting between the two photos, IMO. And I quite agree that most women wouldn't want two dresses that are so similar, in fact, exactly the same, in slightly different colors.

I can see the advantage in having one dress in different colours particularly if it fits well.
The picture from today I linked is with no added camera light nor sun light as they appear to be under a canopy, so this is a "true" colour of the dress. The one from last year has camera light, but you can tell that the belt colour is the same, which on today's dress it isn't.

Love the RI dress- definitely same dress, different color.
I can see why she would want the same dress in different colors. It's like with the EW dress- if I was Kate, and I could afford it, I would want that dress in pink, and in blue.
Also wanted to say I loved the blue dress she arrived in Canberra in.
Didn't like the hobbs dress the first time, don't like it this time.

So far I think Catherine has done a fabulous job with her wardrobe except for maybe a few choices. I have to say though that I am not happy with that hair blowing all over the place. Would have been easier and looked better if she had put it up for most of this trip. Tired of seeing her fuss with it.

I'm glad to see her start using colors. Overall, actually, there have only been A few choices I liked.

IT isn't exactly the same dress - although it might as well have been.
IT is the Lovina dress - found this via the web.

It is from last years collection
Dress worn in Canada and at the Royal Academy

I prefer the Periodot dress - lighter material, lovely dove grey/pale lilac colour.
Whatever the colour of the dress today, I didn't like it. It has been described by those who were there as mocha, oatmeal (male reporter), coffee, taupe, beige or mauve.
Miss for me

Thanks, RoseDaisy. It looked to me as though they were different styles of dresses but didn't say anything because other people were so sure they were the same dress. I actually do like the color of today's dress (but the royal blue would have looked great too) and absolutely adore those earrings.

Okay, so I see now that they are different styles of dresses, and similar but different colors.
I like both dresses.
Would like to see Kate in today's dress in royal blue as well.

Love both dresses especially the Hobbs dress.

I wonder if Kate will wear the wattle brooch at the GG reception?

I hope so. I think maybe the other best bet is the ANZAC service on 25th - before they fly home.

I liked that William is finally dressing a little more casually . . . I was starting to think his blue suits were painted on. As to Catherine's last few pallid dresses, well they are fine if you are going to an engagement but when you are the engagement . . . not so much.
People want to see her and merging into a sea of pales shirts etc. does not achieve that. At least at the Easter Show you could spot her because of all the "suits" around her.
As to the hair? Same old, same old. Hair in her face, hair in Williams face and probably hair in George's mouth before they left. I loved her ponytail but I think unfortunately that was just a oncer.

I'm really kind of liking her simplicity for the most part. No fancy bows and bells nor does she seem overly concerned that her hair be styled in knots and twists and braids. Its often been said that the clothes make the person but in Kate's case, I don't think she feels the need to have clothes or hairstyles or jewels define her. She's a minimalist when it comes to this sort of thing and to me, that's a woman confident in her own skin.

Who's talking "knots, twists and braids"? I merely mentioned the ponytail, which has got to be more simple that spending the day fluffing around with her hair, has not been repeated and probably wont be.
I would have thought a minimalist would be more likely to use a simple ponytail rather than spend the whole day trying to keep an ever more windblown mass of hair out of her and her husband's face.

Catherine in Adelaide. Pink 2 piece by McQueen. Just stunning. Best picture I can find at the moment.

It's lovely. I especially notice that the waist band is in the correct place, not as high as some of her other dresses. I think it makes all the difference.

Love it. It might be the best outfit of the tour.

I absolutely adored the pink outfit and think it was one of the best looks yet. Any clue on what the necklace was?

Catherine looked quite lovely today in the pink dress, everything about the outfit was perfect, even the shoes. It was nice to see her hair pulled back for a change, she has a beautiful face, and she hides it most of the time, maybe that's her security blanket so to speak. Whatever, she looked the best besides the red suit with the belt, she looked great!
