I like the outfit Catherine wore to the Children's Hospice. The coat is nice and her shoes are alright, although I don't like the two shades of black together (seen in this photo).

I respectfully disagree with this as I personally think that grey, black and blue do go well together. Grey and black seem to go well with most colours.

I like this coat very much. But that's it. The rest is all wrong, specially the colour combination.

I was actually commenting on her shoes, which are black, rather than her trousers:

In this photo, you can see that the wedges have a lighter shade of black and a darker shade of black.

I think it refers to the heel color vs. the suede color. Much ado...

i like seeing kate in these more casual outfits. it really gives a breath of fresh air to the monarchy - as if we'd have seen diana in anything similar!

I think her clothing choices are also showing her confidence in her role as she is making her own boundaries. she has done quite a few of these hospice visits (and I'm sure more that we aren't aware of - gasp!). She knows what works for these visits. I think the jacket was a tasteful tailored way to pull it all together. professional yet practical if she wanted to sit on the floor with the kids. its all about the kids and the families. and shining a light to raise awareness and donations. this was one of her most relaxed visits and she obviously connected with the kids; completely warmed my heart.

She looked the way she should when bending down/over and greeting children up close. No worry here about a skirt flying up and giving the opportunity to those so willing to criticize her. It was clearly a working outfit. I thought she looked lovely.

Not good to compare, Diana was Princess of Wales and expected to look like one in her official duties. She did wear casual clothes on official visits, the landmines visit in Africa comes to mind.

She wasn't The Princess of Wales by then. She was Diana, Princess of Wales, but only by use of it as a sort of "last name".

I like this look; it's professional, but still fun. Good choice.

Good one, Kate! Pencil skirt and sensible length. No wind is going to cause any bother to that outfit. Hardly "matronly" when worn by an attractive woman like her with fashionable stockings and smart shoes. On the contrary it's a very professional look yet still shows off her very fine legs and slender shape. Great choice!
