Okay, I really liked the trousers and shoes and would have liked to see her top in a matching red. Unfortunately the white of the top made the stone colour of the coat look cold and mismatched.
I see that Sophie is carrying what can only by termed a "Urban Survival Kit" or USK for short. It is both sizeable and neither matches nor compliments any other part of her ensemble.
Other than her smile, a rare fail.

Nice, if serviceable. I like that Sophie mixes things up & doesn't get stuck in a rut fashion-wise. Fit & flare dresses, sheaths, pants - and they usually all look good on her. Even her (IMO) ill-advised jumpsuit for her mother-in-law's birthday concert showed that she is willing to take chances & have fun with her clothes.

Why am I not a fan of her hair when it's down? Love the outfit, but she just looks unpolished with that hair. I think she looks to elegant when her hair is pulled back.

I'm not a fan of Erdem but this dress suits her. Not sure about the shoes though. I agree that Sophie looks better with a shorter, sharper hair style

I don't know what it is about Sophie, but she really knows how to rock a frock. Black and white print can be overpowering on many women but Sophie looks terrific. I didn't even mind the little cardigan that she wore with it earlier in the day.
The dress is so flattering and it's great to see that Sophie knows a longer length means more can be done with the style. In this case, a flirty hem which softens the line and flatters the legs. I too am team updo on this one but it would have looked odd with a little cardigan I think.
Her jewellery is stellar and her bag is quite interesting but I would have liked a less pointed toe on the shoes. I like the beige better than I would have liked white accessories and black would have been too "winter' I think.

My first thought was um no, but then I thought of the nature and makeup of the engagement she was attending and believe a little less cutting edge was in order.
Well done Sophie.
