:ohmy::ohmy::ohmy: is my opinion of the look. I am not mentioning excessive pieces of jewellery. Infanta Elena's colourful ensemble from the 1980s was awkward then and is awkward now.

:previous: I second that opinion.

I am all for bright colors but that looks like some odd mix of 70's psychedelic and 80's fashion sense, neither of which should ever come out of the closet again.

;)She's worn it before so there is a very good chance we'll see it again.

Apart from this clown outfit, Elena used to be very elegant when she was with Jaime who kind of advised her. Since he left, Elena's fashion approach has gone downhill.

Makes you wonder what's in the back of the closet...:ermm:

As Duke of Marmalade pointed out Elena did have a very elegant style while she was married to Jaime, but there were a few eclectic choices too. ;)

For some reason, I had a dejà-vu of Queen Sofia's majorca pijamas

She has relaxed her style quite a bit, doesn't she? But then, also her schedule has relaxed a lot, both in quantity and content. Casual is not a reason for ugly outfits, though, but she seems to have more fun with her dressing lately IMO.

Elena has had some very elegant looks but yesterdays was really bad, here's a few photo's of some of her more professional and polished outfits.

Elena looks nice, I like the soft colours of her outfit. I'm not a fan of her shoes though, to me they seem a little old fashioned looking and slightly odd with the outfit, but that's just my opinion.

Nothing special about her outfit, but the hair, it really needed to be styled or pulled up.

The top half of Elena's outfit is nice, but I find the trousers to be a little frumpy for my tastes, and they make the whole outfit appear as such, IMO - but perhaps the fact that her hair is down also is a factor for that opinion of mine.

The ensemble was untidy. A usual boring dress would have been a better choice. The fan was the best element of the look.

I agree that she is wearing a very nice outfit for today's party. :)However
speaking as someone who has very similar hair to Elena's (wavy/curly) I don't find her hair to be too messy today. I'm guessing it took at least an hour to blow dry and flat iron her hair.

Where do i begin? Probably from nowhere!!

Spanish Royals Receive Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Medalists

Elena was present, her style has gone with Jaime leaving.

I disagree. You need to look to the situation. The Infanta Doña Elena is the honorary President of the Paralympic Committee. "Her" athletes were all in track suits (training jacks, etc.).

In other countries (for an example the Netherlands) the athletes wore representative costumes for the official reception. In Spain it was just track suit.

Infanta Doña Elena kept the distance between herself (the president) and "her" athletes close by not dressing in Chanel or Balenciaga. So it was an excellent choice of the Infanta!

The ensemble is so so. The trousers do not flatter Infanta Elena. The jacket is somewhat better. The Chanel bag is nice.
