Mary's current hairstyle

Maybe it's just me but I'm thinking Mary needs more of a real haircut and style.

I was watching a documentary on her done in 2007 when she had that very cute short bob. Now it looks like she keeps it long for evening updos. Just not very polished, in my humble opinion.

IMO Mary looks better with long hair. And more feminine. But I'd like to see her with a lighter colour (light brown) or with some highlights.

I think that's because of the light in that room. In outdoor pictures her hair doesn't look that yellow.

It is fascinating to see how hairstyles have changed. In the past, a chignon was a work of art, the equivalent or complement of a designer's gown and a lot of ego must have gone into the creation. The emphasis was on the master's masterpiece, and the princess could be used to show it off, the way designer dresses are worn by models or actresses in Cannes. To our modern eyes, Princess Grace's chignons look like big wedding cakes and her face is sometimes dwarfed by the concoction on top. Her biographies say she liked period costume gala balls and the whole stagework that went with them. Of course, with her face, she carried it off with panache and nothing could look absurd.

Modern royals are more free to choose their own hairstyles, there are no more Alexandre to direct or intimidate them with their art, and Princess Mathilde leads the way in her unconventional choice of chignons and hair accessories. She may be the closest version to a modern Princess Grace, conservative and demure, yet gifted with a sense of the theatrical and an instinct for revealing the humorous and whimsical side of her personality in the most unexpected ways.

I like both this hairstyle and the Amethyst Tiara, but not together. As I said at MM's fashion thread, there's something off this time.

I also liked her hair on Saturday. Very glamorous!

I liked ho wMary styled her hair on this trip. It was nice to see a new hair do at almost every event. Even if the style did not work like the curls di dnot work for me, it was a nice change and seeing her experiment on what does & doesnt work.

The backview of this hairdo is gorgeous. It would also look great with a tiara.

I also didn't really like the curls on Mary. She still looked okay, but of all her hairdos in Washington it was my least favourite.
