Elegance personified. She looks exquisite in this amazing gown. The jewels just add that extra spark to a perfect look. Queen Silvia truly is a regal queen.

Silvia looks wonderful! The dress is very regal and elegant. The color, the design, and the embroidery are exquisite.

It seemed as it was a bit cold during the dinner as queen Silvia was wearing a thin white scarf over her dress during the speeches of the Nobel laureates.

In one of the HQ pictures the coloring of the dress and jewels seemed appropriate fashion wise. It felt she knows how to dress for the times. There could have been white diamonds to go with her gown but it looked better with the maroon/purple gems. I love Queen Sylvia and her way of staying young. King Carl made a good choice in bride. You can tell they live in a circle that transpires the aging of time. Classic yet historically beautiful. Cool to see them again.

Queen Silva looked fabulous. The dress was wonderful and fit her like a glove. The jewels were outstanding and her hair was gorgeous. Great Noble Prize appearance this year.

To me, this is the way to do a dress with a lace overlay. The color differences between the lace and the underdress are subtle unlike the black lace dress that the Duchess of Cambridge has worn. Queen Silvia's choice is incredibly elegant.

Q Sylvia always looks beautiful and regal. Tonight, even more than at Victorias wedding and Estelle's baptism, she was perfect. I don't know why she was crying...I think madde tried to help her.

The purple dress is absolutely awful in my opinion. So disappointing after she wore that beautiful dress the day before.

Yes, it's absolutely dreadful. The material with those black flowers looks like what I'd see on a cheap department store prom dress.
That plus the nine prong tiara make for a really, really bad appearance for her. Shame, because you're right, she looked amazing the other day.

I must say that I don't find the dress dreadful at all. Covering it with the black lace shawl isn't the best idea since it turns the overall look rather fussy, but it can perhaps be understood as she obviously has a bad cold.
The gown itself has a great silhouette, black lace embroidery on purple doesn't exactly scream 'prom dress' to me, and Queen Silvia can certainly pull off the beautiful amethyst shade.
Here's a full view of it without the shawl, when worn last year in New York:

The only thing I dislike is the black lace shawl. It isn't needed as it does little to keep her warmer.

That looks like a lace bolero since you can see a portion of the gown's neckline below it. I can't decide if the color is a lavender or gray, but it's a lovely soft color for her.
