I agree. I like the animal print and the dress, but a few too many accessories. Some great dangle earrings, no brooch and some bangle bracelets and that would have been good. The diamonds don't actually look too good with the print.

I'm really not a fan of that leopard dress...

Máxima looked great! She has worn the dress before at the gala dinner and concert for King Carl Gustaf's 60th birthday in 2006 - it's by Benito Fernández

I like it much better this time around. Also the tiara has been placed slightly more to the back, which looks better. And she is really able to wear a lot of jewels without looking overwhelmed, she could even have worn the devant corsage and it would have been fine (though it is probably too heavy for a strapless dress like this).

I love this dress. I don't know why, because it's very.... Maxima, not me.
I want to be invited to play dress-up in Maxima's closet.

The King, Princess Beatrix, Princess Margriet and Professor Pieter van Vollenhoven all changed inside the Royal Palace. Queen Máxima came last at the palace and was already in evening attire. An explanation could be that her agenda was so tight and that she probably wanted to give some time to the three daughters back home at the private villa near The Hague.
Maybe she loves it to change at home, the three daughters looking how mama changes into a ravissante gown and glitzing with diamonds. Also that is "quality time" and I bet great fun... Then into the limousine and with a motor escorte from The Hague to Amsterdam.

Now that's a nice image of Max dressing at home for her daughters' pleasure and transitioning from Mommy to queen. I'm sure there are lots of giggles and oohs and aaahs all around. I wonder if they get to try on her jewels under her careful eye. Lucky girls!
And the hair, jewels and gown are just magnificent. I love that ruby red gown, wonderful color and such a great backdrop to the ruby set.

The animal printed dress isn't a favourite of mine, it's a little too busy for my taste and I'm not a huge fan of animal prints in general. However, I loved her red dress. That colour is fabulous!

Love it. Divine.
Now would be a good time for those rubies, they would really pop, whereas on the red dress they just blended in.
But the sapphires are not half bad either!

Positive: nice hair style & bling.

Note to self - longer slip next time. But she looks very pretty.

Majestic- that's the word. Appropriate because she is a Queen.
And if you ask me, the red ensemble with the tiara looked pretty majestic too.
Animal print- not so much.
