I think the drees is quite simple so I think the jewelry is good in this case. just that in the weist cut, due that it is 2 different fabrics I would add a nice thin belt and it would make better shape to her body too!

I think this is the best Maxima has looked in a long time. She looks softer, somehow, more feminine. I love her hair and the simplicity of her gown. Less is more elegant..

Here are some larger pictures...
MYROYALS &HOLLYWOOD FASHİON: King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima in Germany
But what is that golden ??? whatever that is on her ankle in the picture where she is stepping up? I enlarged it, but I still couldn't tell- I was, however, able to
see the big photo of George Clooney in the background.

As far as I can tell, it is the lining of her gown. Check the pic of her sleeve..it has the same lining.
Also, I am changing my comment on less is more. She has enough diamonds on to sink a ship!! A case of take one piece off before leaving one's home (or palace in this case). Waaay too much.

I think she looks amazing. Love the dress style and colour. Love the jewellery and make up. Minor criticism - hair ends look a bit damaged - maybe she should have worn it up?

I think her jewelry here is all right. The dress is very plain so I think the brooch is the statement piece. And since she is not wearng any necklace, the earrings are not competing for attention. Maybe the only thing she could change is a shorter earring. As for her bracelets, well I did not notice it until she is waving so obviously not too much to attract my attention if she did not raise her hand. If one has lots of real diamonds, wear it!! Of course, not overload as the Brunei royals!!

Thanks, your eyes are keen. But IMO, a Queen doesn't have to adhere to the 'take one piece off' rule!

I love Maxima's red dress. She looked very radiant that night. Tonight's dress is OK. I like the colour, although the ruffles/layers aren't really my cup of tea.

Its a pity that Maxima added lace to the ruffles of the dress, I actually liked it without, She looks very pretty tonight.

original dress doesnt seem t have "ruffles" - http://i694.photobucket.com/albums/v...psab142b03.jpg (from post #328)
I thought that what has happened is that lace has been added including some that falls below the hem of the layers adding what looks like a "frill" but isnt.

It seems that a lace overlay -- some of which falls below the layers to give it the effect of "ruffles" -- has been added to the original material. ???

The pink dress is too "ruffly" for my taste. I preferred the first, simpler version of the dress. She still looks quite pretty.

The pink dress is one of my favorite gowns she's ever worn. I love the color, the lace details, and the style. The stunning jewels really compete the look.

I am in total agreement. The bodice of the gown is still as elegantly streamlined as it ever was and then there's a whole other deal going on the skirt of the gown. It's fluffy, frilly and girly and, not only is Q Max not fluffy, frilly and girly, she is wearing really serious jewellery that should not be competing with lacey bits. She has the gravitas to wear the unembellished original gown and some very serious jewellery without looking under dressed.
I just try to look above the waist . . . .

The original pink dress doesn't have the brocade material as the current one does. I definitely like the original version better with its simplicity of fabric and the tiered design. But like Marg, I'm just concentrating on the jewels from the wrists upwards.

The long red gown is one of her best looks ever. Simple, elegant, and able to show off the fab jewels, the way it should be.
The pink gown seems to have a lace overlay now, I like it but a little too much with all the wonderful pearls and diamonds. She's very tall and can wear a lot more of anything than most, but a little OTT.
Her skin is looking very wonderful these days. New makeup artists or skin treatments perhaps? Love the hair with the pink dress, perfection
