All in all I thought that Queen Maxima was very restrained. She chose jewellery that could easily have been worn by any of the female guests rather than some high profile peices from the royal collection.

Queen Max looked beautiful, of that there is no doubt. The bride does have a choice of what to wear, it's her day and sometimes brides don't always make the best choice for the occasion, such is the choice for this bride. Maybe it's me, I don't, do not like strapless wedding gowns. They look cheap and trashy to me...it it had small cap sleeves it would then look more becoming on her. I love lace and this was a pretty lace, yet it didn't fit this bride. Something about this bride's gown and her flower veil just didn't go with the setting....not a good look at all.

Maxima's apparel at her brother's wedding was her most regal yet, surpassing even her Coronation Day gown.
She looked quite simply magnificent. Unfortunately she did outshine the bride which frankly wasn't that difficult to do. Even though the bride looked quite lovely I think completely bare, exposed shoulders in an ancient, historic Catholic church is not the best idea.

I am afraid all guests did outshine the bride... All guests did their best, wore beautiful long gowns, were decently dressed for Church. That could not be said for the bride....

Agree!!! Bad choice for the bride.
Furthermore.. "noone should outshine the bride", ok, in theory, but how it works in reality??? the female invitees asl the bride before how her wedding dress will be, and they choose their dress after?? unrealistic! this is valid only for the mother of the bride, but not for all the other women.

She looked simply stunning at the wedding!
I hope she will wear this gown in the near future to see it without the cape on better pics... the only big gala coming up is the state visit to Poland. I don't think she will choose this gown, but undoubtly, she will wear it again.

I thought Maxima looked wonderful at the wedding.
I agree that the cape does add a bit of drama to the whole ensemble, but then, this is Maxima we are dealing with. She is very much the Queen Mary of our times, and makes that very clear at every outing. Bless!

Amazing! Thank you! I hope she will wear this gown again in a due course!
It is a Jan Taminiau gown, so it must have been very expensive, it is very suited for a Queen and the gown is so amazingly beautiful! Reason enough to wear it again!

I have the feeling that there are special arrangements between Jan Taminiau and Queen Máxima. After all, thanks to her patronage his star has risen to great fame. No any expensive advert campaign can equal the effect of the gowns worn at Investiture Day and at Prinsjesdag. I think Queen Máxima pays a "friendly" price.

The dress alone is stunning but I still think it was too much for a day that was not hers.. I doubt she would have been thrilled if that had occured on her wedding day ... but it is stunning!!

The groom's mother was in a bright red gown, in comparison, Maxima was a picture of subtlety.
I just don't think these things are particularly relevant in todays world. IMO, a guest at the wedding does not overshadow the bride. At worst, if they are dressed in too OTT a manner, they just manage to look silly themselves.
