As queen I think she is expected to wear hats.

I like the hat!
It's a frothy meringue, witty and suitable for her personality. We non-Queens are doomed to wear the wide-brimmed straws, the tasteful cloches, the sensible chapeaus. But a Queen should wear a hat with a bit of je ne sais quoi! Think of HM QEII and her mad-hatter hats, of Queen Mother and her floating feather halos, of Queen Beatrix and her layer cake hats- I don't want to see a Queen wearing a hat my mom might wear.

How did I know it was natan? because it doesn't fit in the bust/shoulder area!
The outfit should have a refund, really bad, the hat, too much, butshe can acutally =ull it off!

Well . . .
Not so much.
It looks like:
1. Somebody plopped a huge roll of OLD, unwound, then RE-wound gauze on top of your head . . .
OR . . .
2. You look like you're about to plop down at a table somewhere and start telling fortunes!
Oh, well!
STILL love ya!

I'm right with you Bine. I love that Max is making "hats" de rigueur! I think we will see her recycling all those she already has and slipping in the odd new one just to keep us on our toes.

Props to Max for wearing a structured hat that mixes formality with a touch of beach flair. I'd have even liked to have seen some floral decor in either red or white on that brim as well. And would you look at the size of those pearl daggers - er, hairpins!

June 19, 2013 - Queen Maxima in a printed fuchsia dress matched with a fuchsia hat and heels. Too much of one color for me in the outfit though its a pretty dress. I wish she choose another hat, it seems she has a new thing for such hat styles.

It's a recycled dress by Natan she has worn today! I like the dress, but also think that reduced colours for hat and shoes would have been a bit better.
In October 2010 she wore it with two different hats and without one in Curacao :
** Curacao 1 ** Curacao 2 **

I like this dress and the addition of the small belt helps. Not so sure about the turban, I think I would be okay with it if it were smaller. The hat from Curacao was better. Still overall she looks fantastic. Being Queen of the Netherlands suits her very well. And King WA isn't too bad either!

A bit too much of one color for my taste, but the look is so 'Maxima'. She pulls it off like no one else.

Beautiful colors but the print is too much for me.

I'm not usually fond of turbans, but for some reason, I Like this one! I do not like her shoes. I think she looks very pretty overall.

I really like the outfit. Only Maxima can pull off an entire outfit of one color.

I think she looks great. I like the hat and the belt helps too from the other time she wore it.

Agreed.
I have no problem with the turban, per se, but I DO wish it'd been scaled down, if only just a wee tad bit. Frankly, to me, with the SIZE of it and how its riding the top/back of her head, it kind of makes me think and feel that the fortuneteller has settled back in her chair for a fifteen-or-so minute break, put her feet up, and pushed her turban back to air out the front of her hair while she relaxes.
I ABSOLUTELY like that she's NOT wearing hoop earrings, this time, with this particular hat. And I'll take THIS hat --- size, strong colors, and all --- over that dirty-looking re-wound gauze turban thingy she had on the other day, ANYTIME.
Even WITH this particular hat, I agree with cepe that she looks lovely in the very last of the Getty pictures.
Hmmm . . . Maybe with the turbans/pillboxes, we're seeing Max' version of PB's soup bowls?
Just a thought.
I kind of seriously doubt that Max'd settle for just one or two basic styles of hats, in the long run, though.
Also . . .
Not really crazy about the shoes, but this is classic Max, so, hey, it's all good!
And, yes, the print of the dress and the overall colors speak VOLUMES. And of course, Max is probably the ONLY one who could actually make this outfit work, at ALL!
