I was a bit taken aback when I saw that outburst od color, which is unusual for Letizia... I have yet to get used to it and see pictures several times before saying whether I like it or not...

Letizia looked like a tourist or a spectator but if that was her aim then the outfit was very appropriate.

Letizia looked very nice but would've liked to see this look a bit more formal at least with pumps or a light weight jacket.

I really like this color combination and though I usually don't like visible zippers I think in this case it looks terrific. I'm sure it was very hot there and this is a great look for an outdoor event in that kind of weather. Of course her hair looks wonderful and there is always that great posture to appreciate.

I would have worn something more formal. All the military were spic-and-span in full ceremonial dress, despite the heat. In this very formal military setting, with a parade amd military honours, Letizia looked underdressed. She looked more a spectator than the Queen of Spain. It was a mismatch with the King, dressed in full uniform with all Orders, wearing a sword, gloves and the whole thing.

A simple outfit which can't go wrong. The pumps are pretty for summer and wearable with anything.

JMO, but I agree with you. I an resigned that she will wear sandals a lot. And honestly, I like the sandals she has better than many of you here. I just wish she would pair them better with what she's wearing.
Long sleeve white blouse with sleeves rolled up to 3/4 sleeves do not scream out for the thinnest black straps in her closet. Balance, all I ask is balance. 
But I give her huge credit for the way she has stepped up her game since becoming Queen and evolving her style appropriately. Evolution of a public figure's sense of style can be fascinating to see.

In honesty I do see little difference with Doña Letizia before and Doña Letizia after the assuming of the kingship by her husband. It is with Queen Mathilde and Queen Máxima, especially when it are formal events, who have stepped up with more outspoken garderobes, more elaborate hairdoes and more important bijoux than Doña Letizia.
See below and she could have worn it yesterday as Queen.
