Indeed, because it is the day of Leonor, the girl who is confirmed. This is usually the case for all Confirmations

In one of the getty images, there is also another woman Letizia's age pictured in the background under the archway, wearing almost the exact outfit as Letizia (black slacks and a white sweater, with even higher black heels).

(I assume it's probably a mom, she looks the same age as Leti, and it was said in the press coverage that only immediate families were present, along with the clergy of course.)

Sofia wears a daily dress and the queen likewise.
Only the girl who is "confirmed" has a more elegant style and suitable for the event. Its normal
I see Even so, that doesn't make me like her choice of outfit. She has many nice "informal" dresses or suits that she could have worn. A miss for me.

Absolutely wrong and not suitable for the occasion. Another miss.

Exactly no one rational has an issue with Letizia in pants or dressing casual its simply that the outfit was awful especially that top.

The King also did not dress casual and made an effort and looked very smart

Really lovely colour and hairstyle on queen Letizia today but there's something missing from that coat dress ,I don't know if it needs a belt or maybe a brooch but just doesn't look 100%.

I agree, lovely color and hairstyle, but something is missing. Too much pink, it needs a sparkle or a different kind of accessory.

I would say that the king did not make an effort, for him the "casual" and normal thing is to wear a jacket like almost all the parents who were in school at that time. It is a school for parents with a high-medium, or high-very high level, and almost everyone is used to wearing a suit in their day-to-day life. It is no effort, mainly for the king.
You may indeed like the queen's outfit or not, but it was not at all inappropriate, that's my point. I don't love that blouse too much.

I like the pink coat dress, but I would have shortened the hem just a smidge, though I suppose the length is on-trend at the moment.

Overall though, a nice outfit. I especially liked the color coordination with Felipe.

Not a fans of pink but it's refreshing. I think there isn't enough space for a brooch so I would add a pearl necklace.

I like the dress and the color but i´m not sure the shoes and bag match with the dress and as mentioned before i think the dress needed a belt and maybe a brooch.. but overall its good look.

Looks like a new dress?

The queen looks lovely and perfect for an outdoor summer event.

Overall I like the dress, although the skirt is very voluminous. I think I would have liked it better if there had been a bit less fullness to that bottom flounce.

I like the "Spanish flamenco " touch but i dislike the buttons..it looks similar to several denim dresses she owns.

I like the dress but am not a fan of flat hair parted down the middle.
