I like her coloured trousers there. Isn't it the one she wore to a book fair? It looks great. I don't think it's inappropriate though.
But generally speaking, although I'm a huge Letizia fan, I have to say she needs to dress up a bit (not saying she should start wearing big brands only, you don't need to wear super expensive stuff to look dressy). Like what An Ard Ri said above, those cardigans don't suit a Queen Consort anymore. I know clothes are not the main point of a public engagement, but Letizia sometimes is a bit underdressed.

Letizia looked just fine yesterday with that white-yellow outfit. It is good that she doesn't start to dress like an aunt after she became queen. Today at the Red Cross she looked extremely chic with that beautiful white jacket combined to blue pants and shoes. Fashionwise, Letizia is never boring.

I LOVE the white jacket on today's engagement, I want to buy one with a similar style.

If someone comes off as being cold and aloof there is something in their demeanor or personality that gives that impression and not whether they are wearing jeans or capris. Another post mentioned how a younger audience would relate better to Letizia because she wears capris..I doubt very much her wearing capris would have that effect on them. But her personal interactions with them would

Pants suits are one thing, but I just can't get on board when a Queen is wearing skinny cropped jeans (or pants, I can't tell) to an official event that's not a picnic. Should could certainly amp up the fashion a bit without appearing to be overly excessive and insulting to those who are experiencing financial hardship. She should also, at the very least, wear her wedding band. I just don't understand her point-of-view on the jewelry issue. I can't imagine anyone would hold it against her if she wore a piece or two of some bling. These are probably items already in the possession of the royal family -- it's not as if she is pillaging the state treasury to buy jewelry. JMHO

Love the Red Cross outfit. Especially the jacket.

I agree. I mostly like what she wears (apart from those leather jackets and leggins at formal events), although find most of her outfits a little too casual for a Queen sometimes. It will be interesting to see if her style will evolve once she has been Queen for longer, since she's still in the early moments.
Yesterday's outfit was a little missmatched as others have said, although in general it was quite nice. I liked the colour of her trousers. Today's outfit was great. The colours go nicely together.

How does a Queen in Europe dress in the XXI century when she 41 y.o?
We all have our own ideas of fashion and what royals should wear. Some people want to see royals wearing hats and a conservative style of dress code because they consider it dignified and regal. Some don't. As a Spaniard that "regal" look would be, not only ridiculous, but out of sync with Letizia's contemporaries. Her style blends in with the people around her....it's Spain.
As to jewellery, she doesn't wear many pieces unless she has to. She's not fond of bling unless there is a State commitment. It's her choice.

I don't think we should hold our breath on the cardigan look.

The final word, I would think. She always looks fine to me. She is such a beautiful woman it's hard to fault anything she wears. In fact, she is someone who makes what she wears look good. Clothes do not wear her.

I wouldn't go so far as to say perfection, but she did look nice, and professional. I much prefer her in long pants and a nice jacket, and she did just that with this outfit. :)

Ordinary. I thought she would ramp it up as Maxima did when she became Queen. Frankly, there is nothing "Queenly" about this - general office wear.

I agree about being office wear. I think that is how Letizia is going to express part of her job as a royal. She has duties to perform and will happily do to the best of her ability as she is a professional businesswoman. Even the low use of jewelry is part of the professional persona. Think it is going to take some time before she mentally accepts she is Queen and not just Felipe's wife and must stay in background as much as possible. I just pray that she doesn't develop an odd type of dressing like Queen Margrethe of Denmark used to have at times. Geeze.................

I agree with DOM on the closeup picture of the Varela suit, it looks cheap...and I don't like the side tie. Regardless, Letizia looks lovely and light blue is a lovely appropriate choice.
