I thought the hem wasn't very well done myself.

Just one note: the dress is not by Angela Kelly, only the hat is. Just thought to clarify since I do like Angela Kelly's designs a lot: she pays a lot of attention to details.

Do you know who the designer actually is?

I believe it was Stewart Parvin - another designer whose outfits for the Queen I generally adore. Just not that one.
Incidentally, today's mint green ensemble is definitely Parvin, save for the hat which is from Rachel Trevor Morgan.

Beautiful mint green outfit, and I love the hat. The brooch is just gorgeous.

Rachel Trevor Morgan was interviewed at Royal Ascot today. She says she almost never knows where or when her hats are going to be worn by the Queen. She made 8 hats for HM earlier this year and never knows when the Queen will wear them until she sees it in the press. Stewart Parvin or Angela Kelly send her drawings of the outfits and a fabric swatch and she goes from there.
She came across as a very nice lady.

The Queen looks absolutely stunning. I probably say this for every outfit she wears, but purple really is her colour.

Thanks for sharing, EIIR!
I do love Rachel Tevor Morgan's hats for the Queen; it must be thrilling for her to see one of her creations worn by Her Majesty.

Another lovely outfit from HM. I really like her colour choices this year and some pretty gorgeous brooches too.

Beautiful shape and pleating on the coat and the color is just gorgeous. HM's been really treating us to some fantastic displays of her brooches, too. I'm not too much a fan of the hat, though, a bit too Mad Hatter for me. But it's her Jubilee year so what better time to go a little mad?

The queen always seems to be wearing a coat. Is she that cold blooded?

I love the color of the coat and hat. However, the hat itself I'm not too crazy about. But that shade of lavender is stunning (along with the brooch).

For day five of Royal Ascot on June 23, 2012, Queen Elizabeth has chosen green and blue:

I think the outfit is awful. Not so fond of the hat either.

Not liking this color combination at all. The coat reminds me of something one would wear around the house. Don't like the hat either.

This is an outfit I've seen before on HM and always hoped it would be shoved to the back of the wardrobe. It's just not a good look and I agree with you, Daria, that it looks like a housedress and the hat isn't a great style either. Not an outfit I wanted to see close out Ascot.

HM rarely disappoints me but this whole outfit just did. Too bad that this was the last day's outing..not a good day to remember.

Oh dear! This outfit is not good. I like the idea of the coat being edged with the fabric of the dress, but the colors do not compliment each other at all, IMO. And there is something about the shade of green that is unattractive, but perhaps it is simply the way it photographs. The buttons also look wrong. And there is something about the hat - it might be the feathers - that is not right. What a shame she recycled this at Ascot (or at all!), especially when she had been looking so lovely.

The Queen wore another blue-green combination for today's Three Counties Diamond Jubilee River Pageant - with much nicer results than Day 5 of Ascot.
She's also wearing the Aquamarine Clips brooches.

Ah, now that is much better! Lovely hat and the color is much more flattering on HM. Love the aquamarine clips...
