Of all the present reigning Queens, I think that the two Queens who must have the largest hat wardrobe must be Queen Elizabeth II and Queen Beatrix. A sampling of Queen Bea's vast collection of hats, big and small, from black to orange! ;)

This thread has now been cleaned up.

Queen Beatrix wears many interesting hats to Prinsejdad -- we don't have any examples in this thread. Perhaps we can see some here.
Here more pics of Prinsejdad through years begin from 1980 and go on to 1986:
Pics from ANP Photo but through imageshack:

Re:

Can anyone get those from ANP without watermarks?

Those last pics are fab but I wish they didn't have the watermark! :(

Queen Beatrix's Wardrobe

I've been going through my photographs of Queen Beatrix and she has such a wide range of outfits - all of which seem to suit her.

What's your favourite Beatrix outfit?

My three favourites;

Very glitzy, very glam - it's a vibrant colour and I think it's brilliant on her.

I love this! It's so 80s! The sunglasses are a brilliant touch.

Classy!

I must say the third one, black with gold edging on the hat looks very elegant, and the suit looks beautiful from what I can see.

You're right the second is very 80's, so who can judge her?

The first is a little to puffed-up for my taste.

The third one, very elegant and the Queen looks beautiful! :)

Re:

I love the shoulder-pads on the second one!

But you're both right, the third has a real touch of class. Not bad for 67!

I dont think Beatrix cares much for fashion and likes to have fun with the "royal" looks. I dont think anyone would were what she does but it is very fun looking at her wardrobe.

Re:

Thanks for the link Layla! Its a shame they arent bigger - and downloadable! ;)

She uses her clothes as other people use a uniform. That is why she never changed her hairstyle for example, it is her trademark (and the helmet suits the uniform). When you see her in a room full of people there can be no doubt who is the queen, so in that sense she cares about fasshion.

Another one for your thread BeatrixFan!

And some more, these pictures are (obviously) of the same outfit. Queen Beatrix wore this outfit to the wedding of her son Prince Constantijn to Laurentien Brinkhorst.

And I just thought the first one was a good example of the Queen's style, and the second one an example of how the media can misinterpret pictures!

The caption for this picture indicates that the Queen was rolling her eyes! Not IMO!

Sorry they're very small, but they're the only pictures that I could find of the diamond and ruby tiara Queen Beatrix is wearing a tiara originally belonging to Queen Emma.

This tiara is part of a parure made by the french jeweller Mellerio, ordered by King Willem III for his second wife Queen Emma. Emma's parure was very complete and consisted of a tiara with six rubies; a necklace with three large ornaments, a devant de corsage (large brooch). a bracelet, earrings and even a fan covered with pearls.

Mellerio made 2 suggestions for this parure; one with rubies and one with sapphires, the ruby parure was chosen and King Willem III gave this as a birthday present for his wife Queen Emma who turned 30 in 1889.

Just after the death of her husband, Queen Emma posed with this tiara, due to the fact that she was still in mourning, the rubies were replaced by diamonds.

After Queen Emma died, Queen Wilhelmina only wore the tiara for special occasions, for example at the jubilee when she was 40 years queen. Queen Juliana loved this tiara and wore it often, she wore the tiara not only as tiara but also as a necklace.

Maybe someone can tell me how to enlarge the pictures without making it blurry?
