Just wondered if her choice of hat shape is to matchs her favourite hairdo. The queen almost always appears with the same/similar hairdo.

I sort of like it to actually. And it is very functional. The dress is very statuesque and one look at it and you know that that is the most important lady present.
BTW, Beatrix loves recycling to. The dress she wore at Letizia´s pre wedding dinner (post 2 of Princess Beatrix, 3rd picture) was also worn during her silver wedding jubilee, in 1991!

Wow that last one in Her Majesty's post is really awful. She seems to sometimes have those hats that fit around her hair instead of her head which
looks really unbalanced in my opinion. I really liked the relaxed green one that was listed first

How strange.
I have the third hat as my nr 1.
If there is ever a lady walking around who can wear such a hat, then it is Queen Beatrix. And she does it with style and grace. For a lady approaching her seventies, she looks very good, these days.

That third hat from Her_Majesty's post looks like Q Beatrix took a salad bowl from the kitchen and put it on her head!!!

That was a bit disrespectful to the master-milliner who has put a lot of efforts in creating that hat.
I prefer strong and clear forms above fluffy feathers, ravaged straw or -the worst of all- a hat placed so terribly wrong (with long hair) like Máxima Zorreguieta did in Australia and New Zealand.
We must not keep out of the eye what Queen Beatrix wants to achieve with her hats: a very recognizable, dignified and prominent appearance. With succes.

Well, they are definately recognizable.... but then there might not be so many shapes of hats that can cover her hair. (tehe) For example, imagine Queen Beatrix with some of Maxima's hair pieces, like the pretty red feathered one she wore a while ago. http://www.theroyalforums.com/forums...ts-5544-2.html It is the last one in post # 24. It's hilarious

The cap is a visor and that yellow hat looks like they plucked big bird.
