I've Googled Kate and Isabella Rosellini and wedding dress and can't find anything. I hadn't heard about this before. Do you have a link? I LOVE looking at wedding dresses!

I'm sure Isabella's dress was a copy of someone else's. There is only so much you can do with lace and satin. Unless you want to go all out and add bows and tons of extra fabric (like Diana's, Mabel's, etc.), most wedding dresses will resemble another one.

I did think the top half of Sofia's dress slightly resembled Kate's (and Kate's slightly resembled someone else's). It's not a knock on either, it's just hard to have an original dress.

I wish there was a full view of Sofia's after party gown, but from what I can see, I really like it. In fact, I think I actually like it better than her wedding dress.

ETA: I can't find any photos of Isabella's dress either.

I really did like Kate's dress. Other than the top (and it's not the same either) I don't see a ton of similarity between Kate's and Sofia's dresses. IMO, Kate's was better made and had a better quality of lace. Something about the top of Sofia's dress is just 'off' to me...I like the rest of it though.

I have no idea what this Isabella person is so stunned to see a similar dress. Afterall Princess Grace did something similar long before she did it.

Isabella is a woman married to minor Italian royalty. She did not seem to appreciate all the oohing and ahhing over what was actually a very basic(but well executed) design for Kate Middleton's wedding gown just because the bride was more famous than she was. She basically wore that dress before Kate did.

The DoC's gown is considered iconic for reasons I don't understand. It was a lovely dress but hardly ground-breaking, different or exceptional.

Actually, if there was any copying going on, it would have been the designers copying other designers.

Totally ladongas.

It was Kate Burton of Alexander McQueen who was unoriginal. But the DoC's dress- even though strikingly similar to Princess Isabella's-did seem to have far superior material and craftsmanship.

Of the 3 gowns, the DoC wins it for me in the waist down category. The bustle, the fold of the fabric was beautiful. She also wins it for the lace. Of course, it was designed and made specifically for that wedding, so... the quality is amazing.

Princess Sofia wins it for the neckline and sleeves for me as they have a softer look to it. She also wins it for hair and the length of her veil. I personally wish the DoC had a longer veil so we could have seen the detail of the back of her dress more.

Princess Sofia's gown was lovely, but I really didn't see anything that made it stand out as something "royal" (except of course, for the tiara).

The only dress Sarah Burton copy for Kate dress was Princess Margaret, w/ the lace.
Isabella dress look cheap
One could say Grace dress wasn't iconic either since people have been wearing lace wedding dress for years before she got married. Even one of her sister wore one.

Princess Margaret's dress did not have lace. It was different than Kate's. Not even similar. Sophia looked lovely. No dress is that original. Grace's dress was designed by Edith Head and if you think it was original because of lace. All dresses are made of fabric. So all dresses are not original, since the first fabric dress. Ridiculous.

Princess Grace's wedding dress was designed by Helen Rose not Edith Head.

Princess Margaret's gown was as different from Kate's as night and day. Neither Margaret's dress nor veil had even a smidgen of lace. It was high necked long sleeve gown with a very full ballroom skirt. It was plain but striking. The veil was breathtaking, one of the most beautiful and dramatic I have ever seen.

Grace's gown was indeed iconic. There was probably no other woman alive(then or now) who could have worn that same dress with the cummerbund to highlight her tiny waist, and then the famous bell shaped skirt underneath. She looked almost too beautiful that day.

In the almost 60 years since, famous women have been trying very hard to imitate Grace's bridal look and replicate her magic.

And not one of them has succeeded, imo.

I really liked Sarah Ferguson's dress...and Kate's even more. I also loved HGD Stephanie of Luxemborg's dress.

Due to the poor quality of materials/workmanship I am not such a fan of to top of Sofia's...and Diana's was a disaster.

I didn't think Kate was a great bride overall. Her beautiful hair was a flop that day and her veil looked like someone just threw some cheap net over her head. But the more I see her dress, especially close up, the more I like it. It's very beautiful ,I can't deny that.

Sofia's gown did not have the quality and workmanship of Kate's, but I think overall Sofia was a better bride. Her makeup, hair and tiara all topped Kate imo.

My Great Royal Brides list includes Grace of Monaco, Stephanie de Lannoy, Maxima of the Netherlands, and Princess Margaret.

Sarah Ferguson's gown was STUNNING but I hated her hair and her veil.

I agree that poor Diana's dress was a disaster. I hated it when I first saw it and I still don't like it.

Elizabeth Taylor as a bride 1950? The upper part of Grace Kelley's dress reminds a lot of this 1946 dress of Gene Tierney, but with a 1950s full skirt, like this one from 1953. Grace Kelly's dress was very much typical for wedding dresses in the 1950s, but she was probably the most famous bride at the time.

Good catch Meraude!

Who was Jane O'Neil in 1953? Her dress was unbelievably beautiful.

You know who had a dress similar to Elizabeth Taylor's in 1950?Alexandra von Furstenberg in 1995! It's almost the same gown except Alexandra left of the top part and bared her shoulders. I couldn't believe it, it's one of the most gorgeous bridal gowns ever, imo.

Sofia was very beautiful and genuinely happy on her wedding day.

Unfortunately, I didn´t like the dress at all. Very ordinary and even boring. The lace was the worst. It reminded me curtains and looked cheap.

Come on, there have been awesome beautiful or even iconic brides in the past 60 years.

What to think about Lady Sarah Armstrong-Jones (daughter of Princess Margaret and the Earl of Snowdon)? Or Lady Serena Stanhope (spouse of Viscount Linley, daughter-in-law to Princess Margaret)? The romantic snow wedding gown of Francesca Baroness Thyssen-Bornemisza (spouse of Archduke Karl of Austria). The unbeatable veil worn by Máxima, for which Valentino had to hire a special hall and a special oldfashioned loom machine to fabricate it. The beautiful embroidered over-coat worn by Doña Philomena de Tornos y Steinhart (spouse of Prince Jean d'Orléans), the rich brocante dress with golden needlework by Countess Caroline von Neipperg for her marriage with Philippe Count van Limburg-Stirum. The most remarkable golden wedding dress worn by Princess Olga of Greece (spouse of Prince Aimone di Savoia-Aosta).

Oh... there were so many wedding dresses "after Grace" which made her one looking like a boring dull twelve-in-a-dozen dress.
