It's awful. Johan Friso would have been honoured and remembered today, but his wife didn't have to wear black to her brother in laws inauguration as King.

I think I could like her dress if it were worn on a different occassion...like a funeral...maybe.
It just gives the impression she is in mourning for her husband, which is confusing because he's not dead yet. Then you compound the situation with the dress she wore for Beatrix's dinner (red), and I'm really confused!

Good way to honor her husband. If that's the reason for the style and color of her dress then there's not much I can say about it.

This is off the wall but I think it is her take (as she is escorting Princess Beatrix) of "white tie". Black dress/white tie.

I think Mabel's gown is the epitomy of couture. She does love her bows. She looks fab to me.

This dress for me is just not pretty. I wish she would not have worn black on her brother-in-laws big day. And the fascinator (or dead bird I can't decide which), is not good. Bravo to her for even coming and being away from Friso for several days, that I can say I love.

Maybe she just tried to stay understated with her fashion in order not to take away the attention from the 3 most important people of the day (Beatrix,W-A & Maxima) and the meaning and importance of the event.
If she had worn a festive, big gown fo the investiture,EVERYONE would have talked about her and why she wears colour when her husband is in such a sorry state!

Trouble is that black-and-white is a statement in itself... she could have worn beige or something..
But keep in mind that I'm not a Mabel-fan..

Despite that huge bow at the waist, this is a pretty, soft look for Mabel and I like how her hair is styled.

I like this last white and pink dress. It looks very fresh to me. I liked how she resorted to bows to keep friso present. Very sweet. Mabel has really grown on me, and it seems, on the rest of th RF.

I love her dress tonight. She looks radiant, which is a triumph considering her emotional state right now. Well done, Mabel!

Yes, hear hear! I looked at this picture of the pink dress and I was not sure which of the princesses it was, until I remembered it was Mabel, and I too thought it wonderful that she looks this radiant considering the hardships she has been through. A beautiful woman! And it is good that she is incorporated into the family like this. What a sweet though sad story, may the sweetness continue!
