I dont understand why other deisgners have to comment on other designers work. Me think he wanted to do the dress but Velera got the offer
How would Letizia know what the Queen was going to wear while designing her dress which she did a few months back?
|
I didn't understand that from the article, the designer has not talked about the supposed conflict between himself and the princess, the blogger is just saying that the gossipmongers were commenting this, and that her choice of Varela for the wedding implies that those rumours are right. Imo he is saying in a roundabout manner that there was a row. I'm not saying that the fault was of PL. And Caprile imo doesn't need to design PL dresses even if he got famous because the red dress he was well respected before, after all he did I. Cristina's wedding dress
And about the colour, if she is choosing her dress some months ago I suppose that she can comment this to the queen, and at the same time the queen is supposed to comment about her dress to PL, no? It is normal to talk about the dress you are going to wear in the wedding of the year with your family so you don't wear the same. And moreover the tiaras has to go well with the dress so at least they have to talk about that.
Well, Varela has decided to put PL's red dress in his shop window, it's supposed to be an exact copy of her dress. I was not expecting this from him. El vestido de Letizia

I didn't expect it either, is not as exclusive as one may though.
And about the tiara and the dress, idk, too many flowers for me, too disgusting, too Letizia recently.
She is beautiful (has great eyes, now cute nose, very pretty hair), is so thin but she can wears almost anything she wants, why did she choose that horrible dress!!??

There is no reason for Caprile for jealousy. Varela is a mediocre designer and makes Letizia look ordinary in his designs.
Its possible that Caprile and Letizia had a row about the grey dress that used to be fantastic in the first place, on the occasion of her pre wedding gala dinner:

Then it was altered by Caprile himself, for a State Visit in 2005.

The third alteration for the French State Visit wasnt done by Caprile and destroyed the dress. Its very likely that he didnt like his own design being raped.

I wouldnt be surprised if the alterations were done by Varela since it looks rather tacky and not great gala and he managed to get the same tackiness into the red dress by designing the split that gives a good look on the appalling shoes.

The dress that was on Varela's shop window has been sold although if someone wants that dress can still buy it. It costed aproximatedly 2000 euros. Source

Quite a few posts have been deleted discussing Letizia's weight.
The weight topic is old and off topic in the fashion threads.
Further posts will be deleted without notice.
Thanks

I wouldnt call it disgusting.
Letizia might like something that many of us might not like. We all have different tastes and wont always liek what one is wearing.
I thought that dress was lovely besides the color couldve been nicer but neverthless she has looked her best in a while IMO.
This dress is far from beyond what Letizia has worn in the past.

I really liked both dresses and I think, it is unfair describing her outfits with atttributes like "disgusting", "horrible", "a desaster" or similar.
Tastes are different! I did not like very much Mary´s dress (comparing to all others) but I never would call it "disgusting", although I was a bit dissappointed.
Back to Letizia: The red dress was spectacular and the nude one (nude is super "in" colour this summer) was the right choice of the epitome of elegance and on the same time not to outshine the bride. I really liked her hairstyle, it is a very creative idea combining the "hair up" with an interesting and different hairdo and tiara. Great new approach! Being different! Giving us a surprise!

Grate post Bine221
I don't see what is "disgusting" in Letizia's outfit.
I liked her romantic look.

I thought a little bit of color, just barely a blush of pink or rose would be more flattering than just plain nude. I did love the hair and tiara!

But the outfit they have created looks nothing like the dress.
What you could do is by the Felipe Varella dress that she wore to the pre-wedding dinner I think?

The third alternation had no structural change, only added embroidery laces, Letizia's chambermaid probably could do that, no need to contact Caprile, let alone a row with him regarding the alternation. More likely Caprile was a bit bitter that the red dress he made for Letizia at that time wasn't worn for the French state visit due to being the same color as Sofia's red Valentino gown, this time Letizia wore a similar color dress as Sofia's from Varela at Victoria's wedding.
Since both infanta's wore Caprile's gowns this time, it's better for Letizia to wear another Spanish designer's clothes (Varela or not) IMO.
She looked gorgeous in the red dress. I don't mind the split since it was for a concert, a fun event, not a church wedding.

The pink/nude dress is too plain for a wedding, but not bad either, at least she would have a nice dress to wear for the future state dinners . Her hair and makeup is very nice.
Side by side, the colors of Letizia's and Sofia's dress are not the same.

I think Letizia looked beautiful at both the concert and the wedding. The red gown was gorgeous.

I totally agree with you Katrianna, Letizia looked amazing in the red gown & the nude gown. I loved her hair also.

If Caprile was unhappy because she altered the silver dress I can understand him, the result was too terrible for words. And the people will connect his name with the disaster.
The nude dress was ok, better than I expected from Varela but not a great design anyway. I would be surprised if she wore any of the two dresses for another gala, but who knows?

According to a specialist in fashion, friend of the own Caprile, the alterations in the dress were made by the own Lorenzo.
