That's one horrid pair of pants indeed... and the sandals look like something that might be seen during a holiday, but only when no-one's looking. Perfectly awful.
It's mind-boggling that Letizia chooses an outfit like this like this during an official visit abroad... and in Boston, not Hawaii.

That snake-print skirt is absolutely hideous, along with the pink pants. Not flattering at all  .

Beyond words! 
She is petite; a tiny frame which is only emphasised by wearing trousers. I know she can rock evening wear but she really needs to sort out her day wear for royal events. Skirt (straight) with short jackets would suit her so much. I'm thinking about the style of outfit Diana wore when in front of the Taj Mahal. I dont know much about Letizia but she doesn't seem to have a sense of occasion for daytime engagements.

I don't get it: sometimes she looks so stylish, elegant, pretty, everything matches, and sometimes she wears something only a blind person in a dark room would choose (not trying to offend anyone, it's just an expression). What's wrong here? I am sure she sees the difference between the lovely pink or cream dress and the weird pink plastic-like pants.

Cute white dress tonight looks on the mark from what I can see. Her Boston and NYC daytime outfits were really terrible.
The shiny red disco outfit with the white jacket and the awful snakeskin skirt with the cardigan looked thrown together.
I guess it's day wear vs. night. She should stay away from pants and cardigans, they emphasize her very thin figure, which looks much thinner to me.

I hope they are not red pants because the blouse is pink..it is a Hugo Boss Blouse.
That print skirt is not from mango, I went to the store today and saw the Mango skirt and it is just horrible, it looks like a winter skirt a very rude material...

I have no idea why she keeps wearing this awkward, unflattering length of trousers. If they were regular (and if she could manage to not roll up the jacket sleeves...) this could be a nice enough professional look.
In some pics both colors of suit and blouse seem to have a touch of rosé which could be pretty, in others it's just two-tone greige which couldn't be half as pretty.
