yes but it depends in which royal family. For exemple, princess alexandra of denmark always wears one but in spain or belgium they just wear them for big occasions such as marriages which is not surprising because we do that in my country too. For christenings, weddings and big family occasions I always wear a hat.
when Diana was enter Royals when she was engagement to Prince Charles in February 1981 she been hats 1981-1997 i look pictures in 1997 after she divorces with Prince Charles.
she been lots hats since marriage and separation but she not wore hats since her divorce. She wore hats with match dress on state trip.
In the British Royal Family, hats are very important. You will hardly ever see the Queen out in public without something on her head. Even the young royals like Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, Zara, Ladies Gabriella, Davina, Rose and the others wear hats often and no royal lady would dare walk into church without one on.
1. Ok, i confess i am a crush for hat. Ans is no one better than the british ladys for that. Diana is the best. Is a peat that she stop wearing after the divroce. :flower: :flower: :flower:
VEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERY LOVELY PICS. I ADORE THE LAST HAT IS COMPLETLY NEW FOR ME, YOU DON'T HAVE PICS FOR THAT HAT? :woot: :woot: :woot: :woot: :woot: :woot: :woot:
Well I'll check for more rare pictures of her ... I could only find this picture of her with this hat but I'll check more tomorrow since it's time for me to go home..
I'm glad you liked the pictures I hope everyone else does too.

Micas, I also love this hat! She wore this hat in December of 1993 (which was during the separation period from Charles) to a service she led for reconciliation at Enniskillen in Northern Ireland. Her presence on Remembrance Sunday at the scene of the 1987 IRA bombing was a special tribute, not just to the fallen heroes of two world wars, but also to the victims of terrorist atrocities.
For the first time, Protestants and Catholic prayed together for peace during this event. She also laid a wreath at the town's war memorial before taking the salute at a march past by the Royal Irish Regiment, the Royal British Legion, and other local organizations.
To my understanding, the British RF couldn't have sent her to a worst possible place for her to be assassinated than in Northern Ireland (as Lord Mountabatten was) ... but, there she stands, erect and proud! I never saw her in this hat again. Does anyone think her sisters and her mother raided her closets for this hat and many others ~ plus driving off in station wagons, full of her clothers, after her death?

(Micas and "others" ~ The above hat (beige with some netting and light brown satin strips) is not the hat I'm referring to. (She wore this one in 1983 on a visit to Canada.) The hat I'm referring to, and the one you are referring to, Micas, is on the "4th page", nine hats down. It's black and she wears it "tilted to the right".)
