She should look at how Princess Diana dressed. Diana was a very tall lady and not exactly 'curvy'. Most of the time her clothing was very well done.

It's bad enough when Diana is brought up in convos about Kate, now it's spreading to discussions about Charlene too.

Diana had curves - that was part of her appeal. And charlene does not need to dress in anyone's style. She just needs to find her own way. So many years of swim, swim, swim means that she needs/wants to catch up.

Give her time, for goodness sake!

No, she should not. No one should look at how anyone else is / was dressed. Diana was Diana and Charlene is Charlene. Comparison is unnecessary.
You may like or not like what Charlene is wearing, but that's not the reason to bring Diana (or anyone for that matter) into this subject.

I actually like the dress, I just think it needs really strong make-up and jewellery like the first time she wore it.
Agree that she repeated it too early.

I didn't say she should dress exactly like Diana...I was thinking more along the lines of shape and structure of the clothing.

The dress is not flattering for her body shape. It lends greater width to her shoulders and does nothing for her figure.

I actually adore her in shades of nude. It is then that she looks really quite stunning (take her appearance at Dior Couture for example - And the blush pink evening gown she wore to Buckingham Palace - exquisite!)

And I find Charlene so much pretter than I did some two years ago. Her lips especially suit her face now. Very complimentary. Not thin and ageing in appearance.

I really like Charlene's makeup; she's glowing.
The dress though is just average - not bad, but not particularly good either.

Seems like a perfectly appropriate dress for the event which didn't seem like a time to glam things up. Looking at pictures of other guests the event was rather relaxed by royal standards, IOC members with their name tags on their chest pocket and credentials around their necks, ladies in day dresses or pant suits, men in business suits.

Nice bracelet though.

It could be the lighting but it looks like the top and bottom to 2 different shades of navy. I do love the sparkly bracelet.

I'm glad to see Charlene in a nice shade of blue (it definitely goes with her light complexion), but the dress itself is all right; nothing to write home about. However, the event did indeed seem informal, so she looked appropriate and didn't stand out.

You're using my catchphrase, Daria! The dress is indeed nothing to write home about, but totally appropriate for the occasion even though it does look like two shades of navy. Maybe the bottom is in a different material because of the tiny pleats, which I really like, unless it's a skirt and blouse. The makeup and hair look very nice. That sparkler on her arm is a real eyecatcher and I'm glad to see her wear some bling.

I think you're right; the dress may very well be made out of two different types of material, and that indeed doesn't take away from the piece. I think I like it more because of that (a touch of originality and a little bit of 'oomph'). Just noticed the bracelet; very lovely, and makes the whole look a little more formal than it would have been if she came with little to no jewelry. Glad you like me using your catchphrase .

it actually seems to be a blouse and a maxi skirt or a dress as there's a zip in the back so it might be a dress, here's a full view pic
I like it, I gotta say i was a bit let down when i saw that it was a floor length skirt, but it grew in me. i like it now, the makeup and bracelet make me love it.

it might be a modified version of this Dior dress

Thank you for the full length shot. I think Charlene looks wonderful. The dress is elegant and feminine without being fussy and the colour is gorgeous. Any more jewellery than her bracelet would have looked OTT at that particular engagement.

I dont understand why she went for a plain long outfit. Quite a boring look IMO.
