I guess I am in the minority as I am not too keen on the upper part of this dress on Charlene although I do appreciate the decoration is beautifully done. However, it is good to see her 'dressed up to the nines' and it is appropriate for the occasion.

Charlene in a nice, simple summer dress at the traditional celebration of St. John's day in Monaco yesterday, June 23. Reminds me of the 1950/60s style:

^^^ Yeah, I had a "The Help" vibe (the movie). I think there are lovelier retro dresses tha this one though. Not bad but nothing special.

Honestly, I find calling it retro, being kind. I find it just a pretty blah shirt dress, maybe the skirt is a little retro. But its beyond boring, both in color and style. Charlene usually does much better.

I think Charlene's dress is rather plain and it reminds me more of a servants outfit rather than a retro dress, however I can see why some would think it looks retro.

Nothing wrong with the dress but it's boring, the whole look is boring IMO.

I don't think the colour helps either. The style may be simple but I much prefer her in a more fitted dress.

I agree with you. Does nothing for her, washed out color

Shoes and accessories are lovely but the dress looks like she's a chamber maid.

It's even worse from the back view, if that's possible. Love the Dior shoes, however!

Gosh I'm amazed at the negative comments regarding this dress. As soon as I saw it I thought it looked smart with clean lines and had a lovely summery feel about it. I still do, I really like it and think it looks cool and appropriate for the occasion.

It's not entirely a miss for me -- just not the kind of dress I expect to see her in. Those shoes though... 💖

Sorry, the dress looks like something women used to wear in the kitchen or when cleaning rooms of the upper class.

*I love Charlene's look, usually. This is hideous. Yes, she looks like the cleaning lady. Who looked fine, she wasn't Princess Charlene.
