Yes, Stephanie wore this silver/grey evening gown at a gala business even in NYC, I think it was late last year. The gown originally belonged to and was worn by her mother-in-law Maria Teresa. It has been altered for Stephanie.

The virtues of couture. I should imagine the MT has many that she neither could nor would wear again. The interesting thing is that good couture never seems to date.
Who would have guessed that Stephanie could knock our socks off wearing something that her mother-in-law wore. Actually, Princess Madeleine's gorgeous white gown worn on the evening of her wedding belonged to her mother.

This gown is one of the best things she owns. It looks ver good on her. I don't mind the scarf but it should have been worn in another way. This way is just awful.

It actually makes perfect sense as I have said for quite some time that S's style icon seems to be her mother in law.

I loved the white tulle evening gown(Queen Silvia's hand me down) that Madeleine wore on her wedding evening more than I liked her Valentino bridal gown. She looked straight out of a movie or a fairy story.

The scarf is part of the dress and looks totally appropriate. It could be worn wrapped around her neck or covering her shoulders but just allowing it to hang is perfectly fine. I don't get the criticism. If this stunner is from her mother-in-law, I hope she gets more in the future. This dress is very pretty.

Worn covering her shoulders would be fine. The way it is doesn't look good to me. It's clashing with that beautiful part of the dress. I don't like it, just that.

I think she should draped the scarf either over her shoulders or draped it over her arm. You can't see the design on the gown because of the scarf.

The coat looks more flattering in that angle than in other photographs I have seen of it. And I think this is only the second time I have seen her wear black sheer hose. The first time was at her mother's funeral.
I just love Stephanie's hair...honey colored silk. So pretty.

Very beautiful coat, and she wears it well, love the style of the coat with the matching belt, (wish I could wear coats like that) and the color suits her. Her hair is magnificent, long silky flowing in waves, she looks really well also.

The coat is nice and the black hosery was a good addition. I just think the lenght should be a bit longer. From this perspective it looks OK but in other photos, it makes her look like a girl. If it was longer, it would be more elegant.

The black hose and the coat don't work together. The coat is also too short IMO.
Stephanie in black at the funeral of Queen Fabiola of Belgium.
She looks old.

With the exception of the rather poorly fitted jacket, I think Stephanie looked absolutely perfect at Queen Fabiola's funeral. I especially loved the black Jackie Kennedy pillbox on the back of her head. I had hoped she would wear a mantilla because she looks so lovely in them, but the pillbox is elegant.
She looks drawn because she seems to be wearing absolutely no makeup but I don't think she looks old. She looks sad and pale like she did at the funeral of her own mother.

I saw her in a different picture attending the funeral and thought she looked really nice, her hat is perfect on her, and the suit is okay for this event, after all this is someone who was close to the royal family and they do look sad as it should be at a funeral. There were many heads of royal families there and some former kings and queens, this lady was much beloved by many.

It would be an odd thing to say that Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie looked nice at the funeral. The ensemble was simple and elegant.
