She's 29 years old.
I agree about some comments here, for such a lovely and young women she dresses way to old for her age. Youth doesn't last long, so she must enjoy (while she can) clothes that fit her age, I'm sure she'll have plenty of time to dress like that when she's in her 40s/50s.
Now lets enjoy the beauty of Youth, Stephanie.

Stephanie's outfit was such a disappointment. It would look good on her if she was 50+. The color and style doesn't suit her. I also really don't like the hat. But I must give credit that her make up looked nicely done.

Not to me she didn't. To me, she looked like a little girl playing dress up in her grandmother's clothes, not like the lovely, elegant young woman that she is.
I think she's an attractive young woman, and I would dearly love to see her figure out how to dress to flatter her looks. She doesn't need to be the most fashion forward or flashy- she just needs clothes that fit properly and have some shape.

All I can say is... Downton Abbey.

And not even Mary or Sybil Downton Abbey. That's full on Mrs. Crawley territory.

Is it my imagination or does her hair seem darker? I first noticed it in the pictures from the gala last night - and now (from what I can see from under that monstrous hat) it still seems to be darker.
I'm like so many others. She hasn't dressed inappropriately, but her taste is questionable. If she's not using a stylist/tailor, she needs to.

I agree. Just because Beatrix abdicated it does not mean Stephanie should start grabbing things out of her wardrobe.

I usually like what she wears, but today's inauguration dress was a let down especially the hat. She is such a beautiful young woman.
Last nights Elie Saab dress was stunning though. She looked amazing.

Loved the dress from last night...a shame she couldn't match that today.
That dress should never see the light of day again.

I do think her style will change over time but perhaps her style is just part of her personality and taste. Almost remind me of Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Anne, who dressed old for their age in their youth. Anne still do in some ways.

Or Stephanie might turn out like Mathilde Brabant, who didn't hit her stride until she reached forty and has never looked better than she does now!

Well we know where she got the hat, from Beatrix, but where did she find the oversized peplum? At least the outfit the night before fit her.
Did she go to the water pagent?

Bless Stephanie's heart . . .
She's been a princess and HGD, what, six, going on seven months, now?
We can only hope and pray that she gets settled in, SOON, and hires a good stylist, hairdresser, tailor, milliner, personal shopper, etc., etc.
I think she's a lovely, lovely lady. Obviously Guillaume thinks so, too, because every pic you see of them together, he seems as proud as a peacock to be the gent that's escorting her. He oh-so-very-obviously loves her and worships the ground she walks on . . .
Having said that . . .
G, it's time to crack open the family bank and get Steph a good stylist, hairdresser, tailor, milliner, personal shopper, etc., etc. We KNOW you love her. But, we ALSO know your family ain't gonna be standing in no breadlines any time soon. And loving your wife is fine, but are you SO besotted that you don't even notice that a good 98, say 95% of the time, when you squire her about, she looks like a reincarnation of somebody's great grandma? Maybe even GREAT, great grandma? There is NO excuse in the world for such a beautiful lady who has a loaded, loving husband to go around looking like she's at LEAST a good twenty to thirty years older than she actually is. This is a sin, a shame, and a crime. You should hang your head in total embarrassment at that matronly, vanilla outfit your wife had on at WA's inauguration. Not to mention that too-large spaceship hat that swallowed her alive.
If worst comes to worst, look at it THIS way, honey . . .
Every time your wife steps out looking like a refugee from an old folks' home, it reflects badly on your family in general, and YOU in particular.
Get your woman the things and people she needs to look the part of what she actually is . . .
The next Grand Duchess of Luxembourg.
Just a thought, or two, stated in total love and concern.
And . . .
JMHO.

I agree. I think Stephanie's outfit at the church would look marvellous on queen Silvia. She clearly isn't so keen on fashion, but she should find clothes she looks comfortable on, now it is not the case.

What I liked about the outfit is how the sash was entwined with her jacket.
If she had worn a more fluent skirt and a smaller hat, it would have looked good.

It looks like Stephanie wore the same green dress lay night for the dutch inauguration reception that she wore last year in nancy during the wedding gala of archduke Christophe and archduchess Adelaide.
Concerning the sash: it looks like Stephanie wore a Dutch order for the inauguration of the king and queen. Does that mean she already had the order prior to her wedding or did she only get it recently?

FRUMPY!!! I agree with what was said before - I can't believe MT likes what she sees or Stephanie is really headstrong and wears what she wants - what doesnt make sense because she has the most expensive designers at hand.
Somebody hire a stylist, quickly. I mean she did so well with her own weddingdress!!!

I think with the wedding dress she had help in choosing it maybe her mother and others. I don't think she has help now , I can't imagine anyone with fashion expertise letting her or agreeing she should wear the things she wears.
