The Danish kids on the occasion of Grandma's 70th Bday:

Compared to how their mother Mary dresses, the clothes are very, very average, especially for such an event, almost car boot sale level. I dont mind that too much, actually prefer it to overdressed accessory kids in lookalike dresses but in addition to that, the Danish kids often look a bit sloppy or even scruffy. I don't mind the clothes but I don't like the lack of looking polished.

With the exception of the balcony photo, i think the other occasion( with Mary wearing jeans and a black wrap), the children look fine and not under dressed at all. I think it was a more casual time and they are dressed accordingly. But if you are referring to lack of colour, i have to agree there. Browns and greys and black and navy get a bit boring after a time.

Maybe they are naturally 'scruffy' children Some are; and in an interview queen Margrethe herself has said that Frederik and Mary won't have to get a dachshund - they already have Isabella. Bet she is a bundle of energy. Isabella couldn't do anything about her hair on the 16th though, it was a windy day.
While I wouldn't mind some colours in Mary and Frederik's children's outfits (why are we always assuming that the dad does not have an opinion on his children's clothes?), I think the style does represent what is generally more liked in Denmark - and Scandinavia. I for one really dislike the cutsy cutsy smock frocks for small girls which a lot of people find beyond adorable; I much prefer the more casual way of dressing children. Give me the H&M children's style any day Just my opinion of course.

I love Christian's little owl sweater!
And I agree - Ingrid Alexandra looks lovely!

Personally, I don't think that Christian and Isabella are "underdressed", and I certainly don't think they look scruffy or sloppy; they're kids! They always look comfy and that's what matters most! Even Joachim, who is an impeccable dresser, dresses his sons similarly. They have a whole life of gala dresses and uniforms ahead of them, so let's just let them enjoy their casual outfits as long as they can :)

Compared to what they have been seen in the past I think their outfits were pretty good & since all the other royals were dressed in casual cloths & jeans, I personally thought they looked pretty well dressed.

I loved Isabella's coat from the balcony, the color is beautiful.

I always like what Ingrid wears. She seems like a little model, how fashionable she is And more, I also like what Leonor and Sofia and also the Belgian girls wear.

Did Queen Margethe really say that?
The kids are adorable. Isabella's hair is getting so long. Is it just me or do her shoes seem really big?

I liked seeing Princess Isabella in the pretty blue coat and I'd love to see her in some brighter colors now and then.

Christian and Isabella are also old enough to voice out what they want to wear so maybe Mary and Fred compromise with them. Their outfits weren't bad and they are children... Can't really expect them to look impeccible all the time. They have their whole lives for them.

She did - it was in an interview with BilledBladet. Muhler has made a number of translations of interviews with the queen and it is mentioned in one of them.

According to the queen, Frederik and Mary laughed at her remark. Seems they all acknowledge that Isabella is a young lady of firm opinions.

I`m not too keen about the way most times Fred & Mary´s children are dressed (especially the little girl). Ingrid Alexandra not only is a beauty, she has flair and elegance in whatever she wears.
