Tight-fitting pants may look appropriate on a ballet dancer, but the rest of the male gender? Nah.

Shirt-sleeves should be seen when wearing a suit.
Nice watch though.

Fell asleep while looking at the ties in the gallery.

Here is a man in serious need of a scarlet velvet jacket.

And a panama-hat...
Muhler-C'mon you know it was only a matter of time before those shoes became fashionable again!

TBH I think that the sartorial gene skipped a generation when it came to the Wales' brothers. IMHO they look to their grandfather as their fashion role model instead of their father.

I was just thinking about this. We routinely rip the women to shreds for not looking future-queenly enough.
Does he look future king-ish?

IMO he does look "kingly" enough as he will continue to wear uniforms, ceremonial garb, and suits while performing his royal duties just like the other 21st century male royals.

He's likely got another 25 to 30 years before he ascends the throne. He'll have a lot of experience by then.

Didn't Prince Philip get an award for sartorial elegance from the Gentleman's Quarterly magazine last year? So it's not Philip they take after. Might be the Spencer side of the family!

As far as Harry is concerned, apart from when in uniform he does look very nice in white chinos and very thin blue shirts!

I don't think Pope Francis wears his red shoes. Perhaps Joachim stole his. 😀

Oh yeah! I totally agree with you. There's something very appealing about rolled up sleeves on muscular forearms.

I definitely wouldn't go that far. There are lots of men I am very happy to see in tight-fitting pants. Prince William, however, is not one of them. If he's going to keep wearing those new pants of his, someone should buy him some compression undies.

I wouldn't want to go back to the 70's where men's pants were so tight they left little to the imagination....well fitted jeans/pants are nice to see.

I guess I don't see the issue with William's pants...they are just generic pants for the most part. He's pretty fit.

You can't have seen some of the photos I've seen over the last few days. I didn't need to know William dresses to the left.

I do believe that you are correct Curryong. Perhaps there is hope that when William and Harry are in their 90's that they'll be honored by the same magazine too.

Harry has the same problem, as noted by other posters in the past. I hope they're not sharing boxer undies as well as the blue suit!

There appear to have been a misunderstanding about what I meant with shirtsleeves must be showing.

Observe and marvel at Prince Charles.

Shirtsleeves are showing.
Great ties.
Funny, always well-folded handkerchiefs.
Shoes that are shining.
Trouser-legs that are folded up to the correct length - so no "water in the basement" here.
Interesting things on his lapel.
That's how you do it!

Then we have William.

No handkerchief.
Sleep-inducing ties.
No shirt-sleeves showing.
Nothing on his lapels. Where is the fun?
No, no, no. At best he can get one for his watch.

The Bee Gees style pants?

I remember it. There was a reason why the Bee Gees sang the way they did...

William does wear hankerchiefs from time to time. He isn't alone in ditching them among the younger royal men.

But definitely agree some interesting ties, and lapel pins could add so much more.

William could have shown some individuality and personality by wearing brightly coloured ties in typical Bhutan patterns, and matching socks. OK, perhaps the socks would have been a stretch, but it would have won some fans, I think. Heck, he could have even really lashed out and worn a colourful shirt.

He has missed the opportunity to wear a tie featuring the beautiful Blue Poppy that is the national flower of Bhutan in the design. That would have gone very nicely with his blue suit, too. But, alas, it was not to be.

i don't think that William is so risky, and I didn't expect exotic or colorful patterns from him. I have the feeling he is not so fond of bright textures and designs. (See how he teased Kate more than once for wearing bright green or yellow. :)) To me, this means he prefers neutral colors.

I am quite sure you are right, and I find that very sad.

Maybe he is of the opinion that colorful clothes are fine on a woman, but not on a man. Just speculating.

William looked great during the visit to the Taj Mahal - crisp white shirt, blue linen jacket and sand-coloured trouser with dark brown shoes - it just takes a bit of contrast to really make a difference!
